Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Chapter 1: Akaza’s Return continues its record-breaking run, officially becoming the first Japanese movie in history to surpass 100 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue.
The movie reached a cumulative worldwide total of 106,370,568,950 yen (approximately USD 686.8 million) as of Nov. 16, driven by 89,177,796 admissions. Mugen Train, which is the second highest grossing film which earned USD 486 million including the 2025 release.
The Infinity Castle movie recorded earning over 37.927 billion yen (approximately USD 245.4 million) in 122 days since its July 18 release in Japan alone.
The infinity castle had outperformed its prequel in many ways. However, it still hasn’t surpassed the 40 billion mark which Mugen Train did.
As of November 17, according to box office mojo, the movie has a global reach of over USD 729 million, making it the fifth highest-grossing movie of 2025.
Written by comic book artist Koyoharu Gotouge and animated by studio Ufotable, ‘Demon Slayer’ is widely praised for setting a new benchmark in anime cinematography.
The new film is packed with striking visual effects, showcasing high-speed, acrobatic battles against demons inside a kaleidoscopic castle with endless shifting floors.
In 2025, the Demon Slayer manga which released a new weekly chapter from 2016 to 2020, had surpassed 220 million copies worldwide, including the digital version. The Demon Slayer manga is one of the best-selling manga to ever be written.
