Is Hugh Jackman going to return as Wolverine in Avengers: Doomsday? The Wolverine actor teased the fans when he was asked if they would expect his return in the Marvel universe as Wolverine to which he answered, “Never say never”.
Hugh Jackman officially retired from the iconic role of Wolverine in 2017 with Logan which showed the end of the character’s story.
He decided to surprise his fans with a Wolverine appearance in a yellow-and-blue suit from the comic in the Deadpool & Wolverine, alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool.
Deadpool and Wolverine did extreme wonders in the global box office with being the second highest grossing film in 2024 with a revenue of $1.3 billion at the box office and receiving several awards.
Hugh Jackman says “Never saying never”
Hugh Jackman recently appeared on The Norton Graham show where he was asked if he would play the iconic role again in Avengers: Doomsday where he smiled and coyly said, “Maybe” prompting the crowd at the studio where they let out a big cheer.
He then added, “I’m never saying ‘never’ ever again… I did mean it until the day I changed my mind. I did mean it for quite a few years.”
He further joked, “I have done ten films now, so I think they have enough for an AI version of me!”

His statement left the fans almost convinced that he might make an appearance in the movie. Although Hugh’s co-stars from the X-Men have been confirmed for the movie.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film will see the Avengers, the New Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four unite to stop Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) from wreaking havoc across the Multiverse.
