So the Avengers’ new upcoming movie, ‘Doomsday’, has created a rush of chaos and excitement in the fandom. Every day is a new chapter of debates and discussions over who is the more powerful Avenger, but since Doomsday is all about bringing out the powerful villains, from Loki’s world to the multiverse, let’s find out who is the most powerful supervillain we have among the most formidable villains of the Marvel world.

Who is Kang?

The Loki series revealed the concept of ‘He who remains’, a version of Kang – The Conqueror. He is a major villain of the Marvel universe after Thanos, who is also considered among the top ten genius minds of Marvel, rivaling Tony Stark, Reed Richards, and Doctor Doom. His true power lies in his control over time. He can create multiple versions of himself and can even alter realities.

Nathaniel Richards, aka Kang, is a normal human being and has no superpowers. Kang was born in the 31st century on an alternate Earth (Earth-6311). He was bored living peacefully in his utopia and thus started studying time travel, technology, and ancient history.

He took his first major jump as Pharaoh Rama-Tut as a god-king of Egypt, where he was overthrown by the fantastic four and fled into the time stream. He then started travelling to different centuries, conquering the past, present, and future, rebranding himself as ‘The Conqueror.’

Kang’s Powers

Kang became powerful because he possesses the 31st-century technology and loves to time-travel. Kang’s main powers lie in his extensive use of technology as energy projection, teleportation, a life support system allowing him to survive in hostile environments, and the ability to access any weapon of any era.

Fun Fact: Some versions of Kang’s origin describe Dr. Doom as an indirect cause of Kang’s creation. This makes their connection more interesting if they clash in the future.

Who is Doctor Doom?

The ruler of Latveria, Victor Von Doom, is a super-genius scientist and a fantastic sorcerer who has gained god-like power. Doom grew up in extreme poverty along with his father, Werner Von Doom, who was a healer, and his mother, Cynthia Von Doom, a practitioner of dark magic. His father died while protecting a woman from the authorities, and his mother was taken by demons.

Doom swore to master both science and magic to take revenge for his father’s death and to free the soul of his mother. His ego clashed with Reed Richards’ intelligence when he met him during his higher studies. He couldn’t stand him and began experimenting. The experiment backfired and left horrible scars on his face.

Wandering in search of power, he began travelling the world and found refuge with a secretive group of Tibetan monks. The monks helped him in crafting his armor and his iconic mask. After gaining the power and confidence, Doom returned to Latveria and overthrew the ruling monarchy. He became a sovereign ruler, declaring himself as Dr. Doom.

Doctor Doom’s Powers

Doom is capable of advanced robotics and time travel experiments. He has not just mastered science but is also a master of dark magic. He wears an AI-assisted battle suit made with titanium, which provides him with super strength, durability, and speed healing.

It’s not hard to say that Doom’s armour makes him a ten times more powerful villain than Kang, but if put into a major fight, will Kang win, or can Dr. Doom easily take over Kang? Let’s verify this answer within these parameters.

Kang Vs Dr Doom

Armour:

Dr. Doom is definitely winning this round. Why?  Because Kang’s armor uses only science, while Dr. Doom’s armor uses both science and sorcery.

  • Doom: 1, Kang: 0

Intellectual power

Kang’s intelligence is no joke. He possesses the knowledge of numerous timelines and alternate realities, including that of his variants spread across the multiverse, which is no less than a superpower. He has surpassed Reed Richards as well as Tony Stark in terms of intelligence.

While Dr. Doom might have constructed a time machine and has achieved a speciality in all types of robotics and technology, Kang still has an upper hand here.

  • Doom: 1, Kang: 1

Willpower

We have seen how Kang has the ability to employ his willpower. He used his power to separate himself from his future variant Immortus to become an independent entity.

But the willpower of Dr Doom is next level. Remember when he had to spend years and years in hell being tortured mercilessly by the demons. He showed no signs of remorse. Also, not to forget how he is capable of resisting Emma Frost’s mind-reading power. So definitely the winner for this round is Dr. Doom.

  • Doom:2, Kang: 1

The Final Phase: Magic

Dr. Doom is again winning here because, clearly, Kang has no magical powers, and Doom has mastered sorcery. While both of their armors are strong and give them immense power, Doom has an advantage over his mystic powers, which will be useful in defeating Kang, and Kang has no defense against magic!

  • Doom:3, Kang: 1

Have Kang and Doctor Doom Ever Fought Before?

Dr. Doom and Kang might not have met onscreen yet, but they have clashed several times in Marvel Comics. First in “Avengers #269- The Kang Dynasty Begins”, where Doom won the battle, overthrowing Kang. He easily trapped and manipulated him, outsmarting Kang at his own game.

In the second battle of ‘Super-Villain Team-up’, we saw both of them at their full potential, and as a result, the match was a draw. Neither of them won; they simply co-exist.

So who will win the final battle?

According to the above battle rounds, Dr. Doom is definitely winning against Kang. But it’s hard to say who will stand victorious in a real 1V1 battle- Kang, the master of time, or Doom, the master of magic? One rules the present while the other rules the future. Now it’s up to you to find out the actual winner.
