These early numbers seem promising for the franchise. Since its release which was 21 October, 2025 the movie has created a buzz among the critics and fans. The major challenge upon the release was Harshvardhan Rane’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat which seemingly earned around Rs 8.50 crore. This clash resulted in the obvious victory of the first. Now, it’s about the audience reactions and what critics have to say for both. After all, it’s not always the numbers but the viewers’ reception that make a movie hit or a miss.
What’s the Story of Thamma About?
The main storyline circles around Alok, who is an infamous journalist in Delhi. He seeks solace and escape and stumbles into the woods to film a vlog making it an adventurous venture. However, things don’t go according to the plan and he finds himself under the care of a mystical being called Tadaka. Both the characters then find themselves experiencing emotions which feel scary and curious at the same time. The main question here lies in why the two completely different worlds collided? And why are they both together feeling something they should have never felt? The answers to all these questions unfolds through the story itself.
Audience and Critics Reaction
Many of the netizens have expressed their individualistic views on the film through various social media outlets. Some have specifically claimed that the first half of the film is somewhat tedious. The stretch in the story made them stray away from the main story and took away the curiosity of what was to come next. However, it is after the second half that the view changes completely. After watching the full movie many have claimed that this is the best movie of Maddock Films so far. The way the story is plotted and played out by some well known faces gave the audience something which they haven’t gotten in years. It is fair to say that the combination of horror and comedy is being received well by many. The Audience around the country are praising the lead actors skills in bringing out the most in the story. Once again we see Ayushmann Khurrana on the big screen but this time sharing the reel with Rashmika Mandanna. This powerful duo is maximised by adding Nawazuddin Siddiqui, whose acting we all know never disappoints. Rashmika’s character Tadaks who is a mythical creature called Betaal brings the uneasiness to the story while Ayushmann’s Alok balances the weight with hints of humour. This time we see Nawazuddin in a different light than that of his usual characters. His character Yakshasan is a vampiric villain and also the leader of the tribe Beetal. The director of the film Aditya Sarpotdar has yet again brought a unique story for the viewers. He is known for his bold takes when it comes to horror comedy and this time around too he seems to not disappoint the audience. Well, it will be unfair to not mention the talented writers behind this exceptional story. The talents behind the storytelling are Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Falara. The entire team behind seems carefully chosen and well executed. It is not always the people on the stage that makes the show great, it is the people behind the curtains who manages the successful execution of the show.

It is no secret that the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe has taken the storytelling to a new level for the Indian audience. Starting from the great Horror Comedy like Stree (2018) which shocked and surprised the audience a big time. The characters and the story that followed was something very unique on its own.
