By virtue of being part of the WhatsApp group and having access to the messages containing UPSI, he was alleged to\u00a0be an insider.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content_5\" id=\"trade-3955039598\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_2_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7925020301\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p> While in possession of the said UPSI, Dasgupta (applicant) traded in the securities of HDFC.<\/p>\n<p> Pending the proceedings, he filed a settlement application with the regulator, proposing to settle the case without admitting or denying the guilt.<\/p>\n<p> The high powered advisory committee considered the\u00a0settlement terms\u00a0proposed by\u00a0the applicant and\u00a0recommended the case\u00a0for settlement upon\u00a0payment of Rs 23,90,625.<\/p>\n<p> After the applicant paid the amount, Sebi in an order on Monday said, &#8220;it is hereby ordered that the proceedings that may have been initiated for the default &#8230; are settled qua the applicant&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p> Through another order, Sebi imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on an employee of Titan Company Ltd &#8212; Kuppuswamy Kanivel &#8212; for violation of insider trading norms.<\/p>\n<p> While in employment of Titan, he had transacted in the securities of Titan on three occasions.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content-10\" id=\"trade-2887128866\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_3_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"2969612066\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p> The cumulative values of trades on these occasions exceeded Rs 10 lakh, thereby necessitating disclosure of such transactions in terms of PIT (Prohibition of Insider Trading) norms. However, he had failed to comply with the norms on two occasions, following which he has been penalised.
