And they promised me that\u00a0they will start manufacturing\u00a0flex-fuel engines for vehicles that can run on more than one fuel,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p> Flex-fuel, or flexible fuel, is an alternative fuel with a combination of gasoline and methanol or ethanol.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content_5\" id=\"trade-1877052324\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_2_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7925020301\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p> The road transport and highways minister said companies like\u00a0TVS Motor\u00a0and\u00a0Bajaj\u00a0Auto have already started producing flex-fuel engines for their two and three-wheelers.<\/p>\n<p> He said\u00a0now farmers are making bio-ethanol from rice, corn and sugarcane juice.<\/p>\n<p> According to Gadkari,\u00a0soon most vehicles in India will run on 100 per cent ethanol.<\/p>\n<p> Last\u00a0year in December, the government had issued an advisory to carmakers to\u00a0introduce flexible-fuel engines in vehicles.<\/p>\n<p> Gadkari also said the government is working to encourage\u00a0the use of green hydrogen and other alternative fuels.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;But at the same time you understand, presently we are using maximum petrol\u00a0and diesel, and the international scenario is not good.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content-10\" id=\"trade-2669226865\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_3_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"2969612066\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p> &#8220;We are facing crucial problems because there is a war between Russia and Ukraine and I feel that it is really a big challenge,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p> So the only option, Gadkari noted, is alternative fuels like bio-ethanol and LNG,\u00a0which are import substitutes, cost effective, and pollution-free.<\/p>\n<p> The minister pointed out that presently India imports crude oil worth Rs 8 lakh crore and it can go up to Rs 25 lakh crore in the next five years.
