Fitness testing for heavy goods vehicles and heavy passenger motor vehicles through an ATS will be mandatory from April 1, 2023, as per the draft notification.<\/p>\n<p> In the case of medium goods vehicles and medium passenger motor vehicles and light motor vehicles (transport), the requirement will be made compulsory from June 1, 2024.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content-10\" id=\"trade-3990932192\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_3_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"2969612066\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p> Last year, the ministry had said that entities like special purpose vehicles, state governments, companies, associations and body of individuals may be allowed to open ATS for testing fitness of both personal and transport vehicles.<\/p>\n<p> Fitness testing for personal vehicle (non-transport) is done at the time of renewal of registration (after 15 years).<\/p>\n<p> Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy in August last year, and had said it will help phase out unfit and polluting vehicles and also promote a circular economy.<\/p>\n<p> The vehicle scrappage policy will come into effect from April 1, 2022.
