{"id":32832,"date":"2022-03-31T19:01:02","date_gmt":"2022-03-31T13:31:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tradebrains.in\/features\/gj-cag-gsdp\/"},"modified":"2022-03-31T19:01:02","modified_gmt":"2022-03-31T13:31:02","slug":"gj-cag-gsdp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tradebrains.in\/features\/gj-cag-gsdp\/","title":{"rendered":"Gujarat recorded lowest GSDP growth in five years during 2020-21: CAG"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"trade-content_2\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"trade-1982949373\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/tradebrains.in\/get\/telegram\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-101992\" src=\"https:\/\/tradebrains.in\/features\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/telegram-channel-300x119.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"148\" height=\"59\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/news.google.com\/publications\/CAAqBwgKMN3Epgswxc--Aw?hl=en-IN&amp;gl=IN&amp;ceid=IN%3Aen\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-123430\" src=\"https:\/\/tradebrains.in\/features\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/follow-on-google-news-300x82.png\" alt=\"follow-on-google-news\" width=\"222\" height=\"61\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tradebrains.in\/features\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/follow-on-google-news-300x82.png 300w, https:\/\/tradebrains.in\/features\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/follow-on-google-news-150x41.png 150w, https:\/\/tradebrains.in\/features\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/follow-on-google-news.png 468w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 222px) 100vw, 222px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><p>Gandhinagar, Mar 31 (PTI) Gujarat recorded its lowest Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth in five years in financial year 2020-21 &#8212; when the coronavirus pandemic began &#8212; the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has noted in its report.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content_7\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"trade-843322109\"><!-- Composite Start --> \r\n <div id=\"M923760ScriptRootC1549812\"> \r\n <\/div> \r\n <script src=\"https:\/\/jsc.mgid.com\/t\/r\/tradebrains.in.1549812.js\" async> \r\n <\/script> \r\n <!-- Composite End --><\/div>\n<p>This period saw lockdowns and various restrictions being imposed on account of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The `State Finances Audit Report of the CAG for the year ended March 31, 2021&#8242; was tabled in the Gujarat Assembly on Thursday, the last day of the month-long Budget session.<\/p>\n<p>Gujarat&#8217;s GSDP  &#8220;grew at a higher rate during the period 2016-17 to 2020-21 compared to the national growth rate,&#8221; the report said.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content_5\" id=\"trade-3840094765\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_2_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7925020301\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p>But during 2020-21, &#8220;the State registered its lowest growth rate in five years whereas the Nation registered a negative growth rate,&#8221; it added.<\/p>\n<p>The state&#8217;s economy registered a growth rate of 0.57 per cent in 2020-21 over the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>The GSDP growth rate was 13.43 per cent in 2016-17, 13.87 per cent in 2017-18, 13.08 per cent in 2018-19 and 9.75 per cent in 2019-20.<\/p>\n<p>Against 0.57 per cent growth rate of Gujarat in FY 20-21, the country&#8217;s GDP registered a negative growth of -2.97 per cent in the same period.<\/p>\n<p>GSDP is the value of all the goods and services produced within the boundaries of a State in a given period. Growth of GSDP is an important indicator of a State&#8217;s economy, as it denotes the extent of changes in the level of economic development of the State over a period, the CAG noted.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;GSDP of Gujarat in 2020-21 at current prices was Rs 16,58,865 crore. The per capita GSDP of the State at Rs 2,35,969 during 2020-21 was higher than all India average of Rs 1,45,680 during the same period,&#8221; said the CAG, noting that Gujarat is the ninth most populous state in India.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content-10\" id=\"trade-4063147168\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_3_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"2969612066\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p>The state&#8217;s population increased from 6.10 crore in 2011 to 7.03 crore in 2021, recording a growth of 15.25 per cent, the CAG noted.<\/p>\n<p>The sectoral contribution data showed that there was a decrease in the relative share of industry in GSDP, from 39.72 per cent in 2015-16 to 38.44 per cent in 2019-20, said the CAG, adding that decrease was seen in Agriculture and Services sectors too.<\/p>\n<p>The relative share of &#8220;taxes on products minus subsidies&#8221; increased during the same period, the CAG noted.
