We are seeking to further improve it with this grocery fulfilment centre,\u201d Smrithi Ravichandran, vice-president \u2013 head of grocery at Flipkart, told PTI.<\/p>\n<p>Till now, the centre in Kolkata catered to the grocery section of the northeastern region.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content_5\" id=\"trade-2294860452\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_2_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7925020301\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe fulfilment centre (in Assam) will be run by women and it is another step towards empowering women and creating a conducive and inclusive environment for everyone to grow,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The Palasbari facility, spread across 1.23 lakh sq feet, will provide more than 300 job opportunities and cater to almost the entire northeast, Ravichandran said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to source our products from the local farmers as far as possible and are working towards it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Local varieties of rice like \u2018joha\u2019 and \u2018black rice\u2019, turmeric and cardamom, among other products from the northeast in the grocery list of Flipkart, are in good demand, the company official said.<\/p>\n<p>In the next two-three months, Flipkart hopes to cater to customers across India with local products from the northeast.
