It is a vital link in India&#8217;s national gas grid.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content_5\" id=\"trade-2135209183\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_2_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7925020301\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p>GAIL is India&#8217;s largest gas transporting and marketing company. It owns about two-thirds of truck pipelines.<\/p>\n<p>Pipelines are a critical element in transporting hydrogen, a zero-carbon emitting energy source that has caught the fancy of the world.<\/p>\n<p>Several Indian firms including GAIL have announced plans to make hydrogen.<\/p>\n<p>Aayushi Agarwal, Assistant Vice President (Strategic Planning &amp; New Initiatives), PIL and Ashu Singhal, Executive Director, GAIL signed the MoU in the presence of PIL CEO Akhil Mehrotra and GAIL Director (Business Development) M V Iyer.<\/p>\n<p>PIL and GAIL will explore various options for transportation, using the existing natural gas pipeline and the end-use of hydrogen, they said.<\/p>\n<p>India as a nation is at a very nascent stage with respect to hydrogen as an energy source. The focus at this time should be on exploring the production, transmission, and distribution of hydrogen for making it viable to be able to contribute towards fulfilling India&#8217;s COP26 commitment.
