The buffer stock is maintained to meet the demand under welfare schemes and exigencies.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content_5\" id=\"trade-3448333974\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_2_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7925020301\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div>\n<p>A senior Food Ministry official said the wheat stocks are comfortable now.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2022-23 marketing year (April-May), the government&#8217;s wheat procurement fell to 187.92 lakh tonne from 433.44 lakh tonne in the previous year, mainly due to aggressive private buying though domestic output declined slightly by 3 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>The sharp drop in procurement forced the government to ban the export of wheat to boost local availability and check the price rise.<\/p>\n<p>Wheat production declined to 106.84 lakh tonne in the 2021-22 crop year (July-June) from 109.59 lakh tonne in the previous year, as per the agriculture ministry&#8217;s fourth advance estimate.<\/p>\n<p>The sowing of new wheat crops will pick up in the coming days.
