They were trading in the red, following a negative report by Hindenburg Research, an American short-selling firm, saying that it held short positions in the Indian group through US-traded bonds and non-Indian-traded derivative instruments.\u00a0<\/p><div class=\"trade-content_7\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"trade-651883735\"><!-- Composite Start --> \r\n <div id=\"M923760ScriptRootC1549812\"> \r\n <\/div> \r\n <script src=\"https:\/\/jsc.mgid.com\/t\/r\/tradebrains.in.1549812.js\" async> \r\n <\/script> \r\n <!-- Composite End --><\/div><p>The shares of Adani Enterprises, Adani Green Energy, Adani Ports &amp; SEZ, Adani Transmission, Adani Total Gas, Adani Power and Adani Wilmar were trading 1 to 9% lower at 03:08 PM on Wednesday. In addition, the shares of ACC, and Ambuja Cements shed almost 8%, while the shares of NDTV were locked in a 5% lower circuit.&nbsp;<\/p><p>The forensic financial research firm accused the conglomerate, saying that it had participated in brazen stock manipulation and accounting fraud schemes over decades. It had been conducting its research for two years.&nbsp;<\/p><p>According to the report, Gautam Adani\u2019s net worth is about $ 120 billion. $100 billion of this wealth has increased in the last three years, as a result of an increase in the share price of the group\u2019s publicly traded companies.&nbsp;<\/p><div class=\"trade-content_5\" id=\"trade-55926075\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_2_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"7925020301\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div><p>Hindenburg Research interviewed several people including former Adani Group senior executives. It examined thousands of documents and conducted due diligence visits in almost twelve nations.&nbsp;<\/p><p>The report pointed out that the Adani Group has incurred significant debt, notably by pledging the shares of their inflated stock as collateral for loans. This has placed the group\u2019s overall financial situation at risk.&nbsp;<\/p><p>Earlier, CreditSights, part of the Fitch Group described the Adani group companies to be overleveraged and said that it has concerns over its debt. The report was corrected later as there were calculation errors, but CreditSights said that it had concerns over its leverage.&nbsp;<\/p><p>The Adani Group has been the subject of four significant government fraud investigations that have been estimated to cost US $ 17 billion in total and have included allegations of money laundering, theft of tax dollars and corruption.&nbsp;<\/p><p>&#8220;Adani family members allegedly cooperated to create offshore shell entities in tax-haven jurisdictions like Mauritius, the UAE, and Caribbean Islands, generating forged import\/export documentation in an apparent effort to generate fake or illegitimate turnover and to siphon money from the listed companies,&#8221; Hindenburg Research said.<\/p><p>Jugeshinder Singh, Group CFO, Adani Group, in a media statement filed with the stock exchanges said that Hindenburg Research has published a report without making any attempt to contact the group or verify the factual matrix.&nbsp;<\/p><div class=\"trade-content-10\" id=\"trade-538512393\"><script async src=\"https:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- in_content_3_news -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:block\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4023722985638610\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"2969612066\"\r\n     data-ad-format=\"auto\"\r\n     data-full-width-responsive=\"true\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script><\/div><p>He said that the timing of the report is a mala fide intention to undermine the group\u2019s reputation, with the objective of damaging the upcoming Follow-on Public offer from Adani Enterprises.
