1. Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad is still Gujarat’s economic core, but Dholera SIR is quickly transforming into the actual “ future city” with the expressway, the airport and the integrated plug and play infrastructure falling into place.
- The Ahmedabad to Dholera Expressway of 109km is progressing steadily and is expected to be ready by late 2025. For the expressway, a large part of the embankment is being built using recycled waste and fly ash, turning over 20 crore cubic metres of industrial by-products into usable construction material.
- Dholera SIR covers almost 920 sq km and has its basic infrastructure up. The Phase-1 area is getting ready, and the international airport should be open soon. The Commonwealth Games of 2030 are likely to speed up infrastructure work in Ahmedabad and give a solid lift to sports facilities and real estate.

2. Gandhinagar
GIFT City is reshaping Gandhinagar into a growing tech-financial hotspot, where fresh investments and new centres are pushing the city into Gujarat’s next wave of urban expansion.
- In 2025, the state launched a new Gujarat Global Capability Centres Policy 2025-30 aiming to attract 250 GCCs to the state, and to create more than 50,000 jobs
- Back in June 2025, Infosys started a new development hub in GIFT City with room for over 1,000 employees.
- Other big companies, like Cognizant, also built their tech and finance headquarters there. They’re beginning on a smaller scale, with only a few hundred employees, but intend to expand greatly soon.
- ONGC and Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) join forces in GIFT City.
3. Surat
Surat’s not just about textiles and diamonds anymore. It’s changing big time with a long-term plan, becoming a place where lots of different industries, real estate, and transport are growing together.
- The Surat Economic Region plan is about Surat and its neighboring areas creating growth. The aim is to have 3.4 million jobs by 2047 and an economy worth ₹3.5 trillion.
- The first station on the Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail line in Surat, Gujarat, is nearly done. Trial runs should start by 2026, with full service in 2029.
- The city airport plans to grow so it can handle 22.5 million passengers a year by 2047.

4. Jamnagar
Jamnagar used to be really dependent on refining for a while but now, it’s switching to clean energy and updating its infrastructure. Seems like it’s about to be a big industrial centre for Gujarat’s future growth.
- Reliance is developing the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar with factories for solar modules, battery packs, electrolysers and green hydrogen production.
- The first 200 MW HJT solar-module line has already started production in 2025, marking the project’s first major commissioning milestone.
- Reliance and Google are partnering up to set up an AI-focused cloud region in Jamnagar as part of a gigawatt-scale data center.
5. Vadodara
It is switching gears from an old factory town to a spot that’s easy to get to and great for business.The city is fixing roads and starting projects, which should help our finances.
- The Delhi Mumbai Expressway (the Vadodara to Bharuch part) has really helped connect roads. It makes travel faster and is boosting interest in places near the city, such as Bhayli, Gotri, and Sevasi.
- They’ve also put out a notice for better travel options around Vadodara station to make getting around easier.
6. Rajkot
Rajkot has always been a big deal for small businesses, but new city improvements are making it a modern and quick to change mid-size city.
- The state government recently unveiled ₹557 crore worth of new development projects for Rajkot, covering roads, water supply, drainage, and a new indoor games sports complex on seven acres.
- Another set of projects worth Rs. 545 crore has been launched, focusing on water supply upgrades and housing under urban welfare schemes.
7. Bhavnagar
Bhavnagar is quickly becoming a big centre for shipping and factories on the coast. New port expansions, green energy projects, and better infrastructure are changing what’s to come.
- In September 2025, the government inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects worth ₹34,200 crore in Bhavnagar.
- A new container terminal is coming up at Bhavnagar Port on a 235-hectare lease, backed by an investment of about ₹4,500 crore, and will handle containers, Ro-Ro, and liquid cargo.
