Synopsis: Hyperscalers are large-scale cloud service providers who are building and leasing massive data center providers in India to offer highly scalable and flexible computing, storage, and networking resources.

The Indian data center market in 2025 is growing rapidly digitizing the economy by cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and government backed data localization initiatives. India’s total data center capacity is aimed to increase from 1.3 GW to 9 GW by 2030.

Top 8 Hyperscalers shaping India’s Data Center Sector: 

1. Amazon Web Services

AWS is planning to invest $ 12.7 billion across India by 2030, to meet growing demand for cloud services and artificial intelligence. AWS is also investing $8.3 billion into cloud infrastructure in Mumbai to expand the cloud computing capacity in India. AWS is committed to build a sustainable cloud for its customers and is focused on improving the energy efficiency of its data center operations. This investment will contribute $15.3 billion to India’s GDP and support more than 81,300 full time jobs annually by 2030. AWS enables customers in India to innovate, build and scale digital solutions locally and globally.  

2. Microsoft Azure

Microsoft to invest $3 billion to expand its Azure AI and cloud capacity in India. Microsoft has more than 20,000 employees across 10 Indian cities aiming to help the local tech community to develop. India is the 2nd largest GitHub community which is projected to be largest in 2028. They plan to train 10 million people in AI in India by 2030. Microsoft continues to invest in Next generation hyperscale campuses in Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad focusing on AI ready infrastructure and edge computing to power India’s digital transformation. 

3. Google

Google has announced a $15 billion investment for a new AI data Hub in India. Visakhapatnam will be the largest hub of Google, globally with gigawatt scale data center operations, extensive energy infrastructure and a fiber optic network. This AI hub investment will construct a new international subsea gateway that would connect 2 million mile companies data. This will develop India’s AI infrastructure and provide employment opportunities. 

4. Meta & Reliance Industries

Meta and Reliance industries are investing approximately Rs.855 crore with Reliance holding 70% and Meta 30%  a collaborative joint venture focused on AI services and infrastructure with network connectivity. They are planning to build 1 gigawatt AI data center capacity by investing $12-15 billion. US president and India’s Prime minister signed a collaboration agreement to build Subsea Cables and Terrestrial Fiber by Meta to enhance the connectivity with 5 continents this wil impact the data centers and digital development of India. Reliance is investing $20 billion to build a 3 gigawatt mega data center complex in Gujarat.

5. NTT Global Data Center

NTT has planned to invest $1.5 billion in 2025 and 2027 to double its IT load capacity from 400 MW to 700 MW across 30 data centers by 2027. It is one of the largest Hyperscale operators by improving the growth of data center capacity. The company is constructing large scale campuses integrated with AI operations, cloud computing connectivity along with infrastructure. It focuses on renewable energy implementation for sustainability. It has collaborated with telephone operators to enable carrier ecosystem and seamless cloud connectivity. NTT also provides IT solutions. 

6. Yotta Infrastructure (Hiranandani Group)

It is a major Indian hyperscaler investing heavily in large scale data center parks and AI focused infrastructure across India. Key investments in India are Infinitely Scalable data center parks, Navi Mumbai Data Center Park, Greater Noida Data Center Park. It is also making a significant investment of $1.5 billion to procure 16,000 NVIDIA GPUs, Yotta is seeking a private fund of $500 million for data center expansion. 

7. CtrlS

Ctrls is investing $2 billion, a six year expansion plan focused on building hyperscale and AI ready data centers. Major projects are Rs.4000 crore data center park facility in chennai marks as its 5th hyperscale campus with 72 MW IT load capacity, Rs. 2200 crore investment to develop a new data center in Kolkata, Rs.500 crore investment for new greenfield data center in Bhopal and Rs. 10000 crore investment for AI data center cluster in Telangana. These investments boost the infrastructure for AI and high performance computing.
