The strength of magnetism and efficiency of these magnets have made their use imperative in today&#8217;s advanced technological era. <\/p><div class=\"trade-in-content\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"trade-1717600746\"><script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\" id=\"AdsCoreLoader101144\" src=\"https:\/\/sads.adsboosters.xyz\/fbda060f29d5b8e8c653abce4ac69b7b.js\"><\/script>\r\n\u00a0<div class=\"ads-core-ads\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Although rich in rare earths, India depends heavily on imports for permanent magnets, where China has an import share of <strong>60-80%<\/strong> by value and <strong>85-90%<\/strong> by volume from 2022 to 2025. Due to the doubling of demand expected by 2030, creating a rare earth ecosystem within the nation has become a necessity.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"trade-1938908044\"><div translate=\"no\" class='mailmunch-forms-widget-1169732'><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dedicated-rare-earth-corridors\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Dedicated Rare Earth Corridors<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-odisha-nbsp\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>1. Odisha&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Odisha plays a crucial role in terms of mining and extracting rare earth metals for India&#8217;s rare earth policy. Odisha has <strong>12<\/strong> rare-earth mineral sites, the highest within the corridor states.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In addition, it has an IREL Rare Earth Extraction Plant located in OSCOM Chatrapur.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The plant extracts <strong>11,000 tonnes <\/strong>of rare earth concentrate annually and is assisted by a mineral separation plant that can process <strong>10 lakh tonnes annually<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The state also has an effective<strong> infrastructure<\/strong> for exporting its produce via <strong>Paradip, Dhamra, and Gopalpur ports.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Role in the Corridor:<\/strong> Mining and primary extraction facilities feedstock producer for the entire corridor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-kerala-nbsp\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>2. Kerala&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Kerala has more than<strong> 32 million tons<\/strong> of mineral sand deposits in the country, with <strong>1.9 million tons<\/strong> of monazite among its rare earth minerals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IREL\u2019s Rare Earths Division has already been set up in <strong>Aluva<\/strong>, which produces rare earth oxide and rare earth compounds from rare earth concentrates.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kerala plans to make large investments in rare earth minerals and their research facilities such as Rare Earth Critical Minerals Mission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Role in the corridor:<\/strong> Refining, high-purity compounds\u2019 production, and applied research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-andhra-pradesh-nbsp\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>3. Andhra Pradesh&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Andhra Pradesh is striving to become an important manufacturing center within the Indian rare-earth ecosystem due to its large coastline and mineral deposits of beach sands&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IREL&#8217;s Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Plant operates in Andhra Pradesh&#8217;s Visakhapatnam region. In addition, the state aims to bring <strong>\u20b950,000 crore <\/strong>worth of investments to <strong>beach sands, rare earth minerals, and titanium products.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In 2026, the announcement of Japanese firm Proterial to invest<strong> \u20b92,250 crore<\/strong> in building a factory for <strong>producing 1,200 tons <\/strong>of NdFeB magnets per annum has been seen as a milestone in the Indian rare-earth sector.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The factory will serve multiple sectors, including <strong>electric vehicles, wind energy, robotics, aerospace, and defense.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Role in the corridor: <\/strong>Large scale mining, greenfield processing, and integration of titanium ecosystem<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-tamil-nadu-nbsp\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>4. KABIL, a partnership between NALCO, HCL, and MECL, seeks to procure mineral resources from foreign territories. Partnership for Minerals Security (MSP), which is all about securing mineral supply chains. The Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), which aims at cooperation in energy security and critical minerals.
