Existing SIPs and STPs will continue as scheduled.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Investors planning to start a new Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) in Edelweiss Mutual Fund&#8217;s overseas schemes will now have to wait. Edelweiss Mutual Fund has announced that it will discontinue fresh STP and SIP registration for all its seven overseas mutual fund schemes from 5 pm on <strong>July 10, 2026<\/strong>. The asset management company (AMC) said the decision was taken as it is nearing its available overseas investment limit. All current SIPs and STPs will remain unchanged, however, so that existing investors are not affected.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content-3\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: Edelweiss Mutual Fund, the following changes will come into effect from July 10, 2026:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fresh SIP registrations will not be accepted in seven overseas schemes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fresh STP registrations have also been suspended.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Existing SIPs and STPs will continue as scheduled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The restriction will remain in force until further notice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The fund house further made it clear that the said decision is in accordance with the SEBI guidelines regarding overseas investment to the extent of surplus available against the overseas investment limit for the respective mutual funds from February 1, 2022.<\/p><div class=\"trade-in-content\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: action as their installments will be processed without any issue. It is only applicable to new registrations from <strong>July 10, 2026, onwards.<\/strong><\/p><div class=\"trade-content\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"trade-1718714973\"><div translate=\"no\" class='mailmunch-forms-widget-1169732'><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-are-international-mutual-funds-facing-restrictions-nbsp\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Why Are International Mutual Funds Facing Restrictions?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These restrictions are tied with the overseas investment ceilings set out by the RBI and regulated by SEBI. In the present regime:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Indian mutual fund industry has a collective overseas investment limit of <strong>USD 7 billion<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A separate <strong>USD 1 billion<\/strong> limit applies to overseas Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each asset management company also has an individual overseas investment limit of <strong>USD 1 billion<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The limits have been the same since <strong>2008. <\/strong>The USD 7 billion limit of the industry as a whole was reached in <strong>February 2022<\/strong>, thereafter fresh overseas investment became possible only within the ceiling made available by the redemption of units and changes in the markets. As a consequence, many AMCs have imposed restrictions on fresh investments in international mutual fund schemes.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content-2\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"trade-1729027809\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/tradebrains.in\/get\/voltmoney\/\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"a2t-link\" aria-label=\"LAMF3 300_250 (1)\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tradebrains-wp.s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/LAMF3-300_250-1.png\" alt=\"\"  width=\"300\" height=\"250\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-several-amcs-have-taken-similar-measures\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Several AMCs Have Taken Similar Measures<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Edelweiss is not the only mutual fund house to impose such restrictions.&nbsp;In the last few months, several AMCs investing internationally have put a cap on subscriptions or have even halted fresh investments because of the same regulatory factors. The most recent one is PGIM India Mutual Fund that has stopped accepting new SIP applications in three overseas funds schemes from<strong> July 9, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-should-investors-do-nbsp\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>What Should Investors Do?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>TheExisting investors do not need to take any action. since they can go ahead with their ongoing SIP and STP schemes without facing any obstacle. But investors who plan to start a SIP in the affected Edelweiss offshore schemes will be able to do so only after the fund house resumes receiving subscriptions. For investors who wish to invest abroad, there is always an option of exploring a few offshore mutual fund schemes that are accepting new SIPs.
