Synopsis: <\/strong>Karnataka is home to about <\/em>504 SEZ units<\/em><\/strong> and the IT or ITES developers account for the largest number of Special Economic Zones in Bangalore. This article highlights the main SEZ hubs in the city, the localities and the micro-markets which stand to gain significantly from the SEZ boom.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Special Economic Zones offer tax benefits, easier clearances and infrastructure to developers and the units that operate there, which are primarily export-oriented. In Karnataka, there are 261 EOUs<\/strong> (Export Oriented Units) and 39 SEZs<\/strong> (Special Economic Zones). The SEZ map of Bangalore is dominated by the city as a tech capital of India, with zones clustered around well-known IT corridors.<\/p>

        SEZ concentration tends to pull real estate demand, rental activity, ancillary services, and job creation both direct and indirect jobs, into the immediate micro-market. These areas and localities stand to benefit from the existence of SEZ in its proximity, the Outer Ring Road belt, Devarabeesanahalli, Bellandur, Kadubeesanahalli, Doddanekundi, Whitefield – K.R. Puram corridor,<\/strong> Sarjapur Road, Varthur<\/strong>, Yelahanka, <\/strong>North Bangalore <\/strong>near the airport Devanahalli, Electronic City, Attibele-Jigani<\/strong>, Bommasandra or Anekal<\/strong>. While IT or ITES dominates, a few pockets add diversity to Bangalore’s SEZ profile,<\/p>
