The country faces an urban housing shortage of nearly <strong>18.7 million units<\/strong>, according to the <strong>Observer Research Foundation,<\/strong> even as demand continues to concentrate in major cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Industry estimates indicate that a significant share of NRI investments flows into a few urban centres such as <strong>Bengaluru, Mumbai and Hyderabad<\/strong>. These cities offer regulatory clarity and fewer barriers which make them the preferred destinations for non-resident buyers. The contrast is stark.
