This wave is further verified by the NPCI\u2019s statewise contribution data on UPI usage, of April 2026, with Maharashtra topping the charts, followed by Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>In the recent data from NPCI, the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) transactions in terms of value displayed an annual appreciation of <strong>19%<\/strong>, from <strong>\u20b925.14 lakh crore in April 2025<\/strong> to rising up to <strong>\u20b929.03 lakh crore in April 2026<\/strong>. This data positions UPI as one of the fastest growing digital payment systems in the world. The states and the top districts pushing this wave are discussed below.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content-3\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"trade-1834164430\"><a id=\"h-maharashtra\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Maharashtra<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Maharashtra leads the UPI adoption in India by contributing <strong>9.84%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>9.11%<\/strong> in terms of <strong>transaction value<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mumbai Suburban-<\/strong> The Mumbai Suburban is the leading district in the state of Maharashtra in terms of high UPI usage, and contributing <strong>2.49%<\/strong> in terms of <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>1.89%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction value<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pune-<\/strong> This is the second district in Maharashtra contributing <strong>1.86%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>1.66%<\/strong> in terms of <strong>transaction value<\/strong>, mainly due to being a concentrated region for IT tech savvy individuals and high frequency of micro-payments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mumbai-<\/strong> Mumbai being the heavily populated districts in India has a contribution of <strong>1.07% for transaction volume<\/strong>, and <strong>0.83%<\/strong> in terms of <strong>transaction value<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-uttar-pradesh\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Uttar Pradesh<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>At the second position for the heavily used UPI usage state in the country is Uttar Pradesh with a <strong>5.37%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>5.51%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction value<\/strong>.<\/p><div class=\"trade-in-content\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"trade-3067611905\"><script data-cfasync=\"false\" type=\"text\/javascript\" id=\"AdsCoreLoader101144\" src=\"https:\/\/sads.adsboosters.xyz\/fbda060f29d5b8e8c653abce4ac69b7b.js\"><\/script>\r\n\u00a0<div class=\"ads-core-ads\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gautam Buddha Nagar-<\/strong> This region encompasses the regions of Noida and greater Noida, and has the highest UPI usage in the state with a contribution of <strong>0.77%<\/strong> and <strong>0.61%<\/strong> in terms of transaction volume and transaction value respectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lucknow-<\/strong> Lucknow is a densely populated city, and contributes <strong>0.44%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>0.41%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction value<\/strong> in terms of UPI usage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ghaziabad-<\/strong> Ghaziabad contributes <strong>0.43%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>0.41%<\/strong> in terms of <strong>transaction value<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow transaction volume and <strong>5.71%<\/strong> in total transaction value.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"trade-3359984121\"><div translate=\"no\" class='mailmunch-forms-widget-1169732'><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Bengaluru (Urban)-<\/strong> This region is leading in UPI usage in the state predominantly due to the preference of contactless payment, and contributes <strong>2.86%<\/strong> and <strong>3.02%<\/strong> in terms of <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>transaction value<\/strong> respectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mysuru-<\/strong> The place is second in the list due to the heavy tourism led micro-business adoption and contributes around <strong>0.21%<\/strong> and <strong>0.25%<\/strong> in terms of <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>transaction value<\/strong> respectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bengaluru (Rural)- <\/strong>Bengaluru (Rural) contributes around <strong>0.15%<\/strong> and <strong>0.17%<\/strong> in terms of <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>transaction value<\/strong> respectively.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-telangana\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Telangana<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The fourth state in the country with highest UPI usage is Telangana with <strong>3.95%<\/strong> and <strong>4.78%<\/strong> in terms of <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>transaction value <\/strong>respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ranga Reddy-<\/strong> This district has one of the highest per capita GDPs in the country and contributes <strong>0.93%<\/strong> and <strong>1.10%<\/strong> in terms of<strong> transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>transaction value<\/strong> respectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Medchal-Malkajgiri-<\/strong> This district has a thriving MSME ecosystem. The contribution to the UPI usage from this district in terms of <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> is <strong>0.88%<\/strong> and in terms of <strong>transaction value<\/strong> is <strong>1.00%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hyderabad-<\/strong> Hyderabad one of the oldest cities in India and in the modern era also one of the metropolitan cities has contributed <strong>0.73%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>0.81%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction value<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tamil-nadu\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Tamil Nadu <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the fifth state in the country with highest UPI usage with <strong>3.84%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction volume<\/strong> and <strong>4.58%<\/strong> in <strong>transaction value<\/strong>.<\/p><div class=\"trade-content-2\" style=\"margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\" id=\"trade-1331333595\"><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/tradebrains.in\/get\/voltmoney\/\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"a2t-link\" aria-label=\"LAMF3 300_250 (1)\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tradebrains-wp.s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com\/money\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/LAMF3-300_250-1.png\" alt=\"\"  width=\"300\" height=\"250\"   \/><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Chennai-<\/strong> Chennai is a tech hub, and has a massive merchant adoption of UPI.
