The primary catalyst driving these numbers is the corporate adoption of AI and pushing cumulative data centre colocation leasing past the <strong>2.06W milestone in 2025<\/strong>. Approximately more than <strong>$28 billion investments<\/strong> are planned for the upcoming data centres in India with an <strong>expected total of 4.8 GW projected by 2030<\/strong>, making it one of the fastest-growing markets in Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ai-demand-drivers-the-generative-ai-effect\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>AI Demand Drivers: The Generative AI Effect<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The computational requirements of ChatGPT, Gemini, Anthropic\u2019s Claude, Perplexity, and the other AI agent frameworks usually require a GPU-dense infrastructure, low-latency interconnection, and reliable power. This attracts <strong>hyperscale investments<\/strong> in the region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Google is expected to invest <strong>$15 billion<\/strong> over five years to establish a <strong>1 GW AI data centre<\/strong> campus in Visakhapatnam, which is claimed to be the largest AI hub investment by Google outside the US.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Top Ongoing Projects-<\/strong> Google-AdaniConneX AI Campus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-jamnagar-gujarat\" style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Jamnagar, Gujarat<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Alongside Visakhapatnam the next AI infrastructure growth is signalled by this city in Gujarat, Jamnagar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reliance Industries announced a <strong>1 GW data centre project<\/strong> in this region which <strong>aims a growth of 3 GW total capacity<\/strong> and will potentially become one of the world\u2019s largest data centres.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Top Ongoing Projects-<\/strong> <strong>Reliance Jamnagar Centre<\/strong> which is targeting a 3 GW total national capacity and is <strong>under construction<\/strong> from April 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-market-outlook\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Market Outlook<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The multi-market environment of India positions the country strongly for the next phase of AI infrastructure buildout. In 2025, India added <strong>387 MW<\/strong> IT of data centre capacity which is more than double the capacity in 2024. This reflects a <strong>103% year-on-year growth<\/strong>. The absorption rose from <strong>407 MW<\/strong> IT in 2024 to <strong>427 MW<\/strong> IT in 2025 resulting in <strong>5% year-on-year growth<\/strong>. The cities which led the absorption together are Mumbai and Chennai accounting for <strong>70%<\/strong> of the total in 2025.
