The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is coordinating a series of flyovers, underpasses and railway overbridges along the city&#8217;s major corridors to resolve the longstanding traffic congestion issues in the city. Yelahanka Flyover Project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Location: <\/strong>Yelahanka, North Bengaluru.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Length: <\/strong>1.8 km<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expected Completion: <\/strong>2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Built By:&nbsp; <\/strong>Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Structure: <\/strong>Four-lane flyover.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose<\/strong>: To provide a signal-free corridor across four major junctions in Yelahanka. To reduce congestion and improve connectivity between Yelahanka, Doddaballapur, and other North Bengaluru areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Area Impacted: <\/strong>Yelahanka, Doddaballapur, and surrounding North Bengaluru regions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-rr-nagar-arch-flyover-project\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>3. RR Nagar Arch Flyover Project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Location: <\/strong>Near the RR Nagar Arch on Mysuru Road, South-West Bengaluru.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Length<\/strong>: Ramp 1: 305 m (0.305 km), Ramp 2: 350 m (0.350 km) and Total Length: 655 m (0.655 km)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Project Cost: <\/strong>\u20b971.45 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expected Completion<\/strong>: Currently stalled, with no revised completion timeline announced.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Built By: <\/strong>Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Structure<\/strong>: Two flyover ramps:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ramp 1: Kenchanahalli Main Road to Mysuru Road.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ramp 2: University Circle to Vrishabhavati Valley.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose<\/strong>: To ease congestion at the RR Nagar Arch junction on Mysuru Road. Approach ramps on both sides. Includes an underpass for smaller vehicles and a pedestrian pathway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose<\/strong>: To eliminate delays at the railway crossing and provide a direct connection between Jakkur and Yelahanka. To reduce travel distance from 5\u20136 km to around 2 km for commuters and school buses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Area Impacted: <\/strong>Jakkur, Yelahanka, Hennur, Nagavara, and surrounding North Bengaluru localities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-jalahalli-cross-grade-separator-underpass-project\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>5. Jalahalli Cross Grade Separator (Underpass) Project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>: Jalahalli Cross junction in North-West Bengaluru. Located at the intersection of NH-4 (Tumkur Road), Subroto Mukherjee Road, and Peenya Industrial Ring Road. Near Jalahalli Metro Station.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Length: <\/strong>Approximately 70 metres (main underpass section).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expected Completion: <\/strong>late 2027 or early 2028.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Project Cost<\/strong>: Nearly \u20b9170 crore, Civil construction: \u20b957.2 crore and land acquisition is over \u20b9139 crore.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Built By: <\/strong>\u00a0BBMP, GBA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Structure<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Four-lane, bi-directional underpass. Slip roads towards Gangamma Circle and Peenya. Includes footpaths, drainage infrastructure, and pedestrian subways.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose<\/strong>: To reduce congestion at the heavily trafficked Jalahalli Cross junction. To separate highway traffic from local traffic heading towards the Peenya Industrial Area and improve pedestrian safety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Area Impacted: <\/strong>Jalahalli, Peenya, Dasarahalli, and surrounding North-West Bengaluru localities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-6-okalipuram-eight-lane-corridor-project\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>6. Okalipuram Eight-Lane Corridor Project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Location: <\/strong>Connects Majestic and Rajajinagar in Bengaluru.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expected Completion: <\/strong>June 2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Built By: <\/strong>BBMP, GBA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Structure<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two box-pushing structures beneath the Chennai railway line. Eight-lane traffic corridor. Connecting roads to Rajajinagar and the railway station. Footpaths and a proposed pedestrian foot overbridge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To improve connectivity between Majestic and Rajajinagar by easing traffic movement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To reduce flooding and waterlogging through upgraded drainage infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Area Impacted: <\/strong>Majestic, Rajajinagar, Okalipuram, and surrounding central Bengaluru localities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-7-wind-tunnel-road-underpass-project\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>7. Wind Tunnel Road Underpass Project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Location: <\/strong>ISRO Junction on Old Airport Road, East Bengaluru.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Length: <\/strong>300 metres<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Project Cost: <\/strong>\u20b919 crore<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expected Completion: <\/strong>November 2026.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Built By: <\/strong>Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Structure<\/strong>: Underpass with prefabricated structural boxes. Retaining walls and service roads. Around 60% of the structural boxes have already been fabricated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose<\/strong>: To eliminate congestion at the busy ISRO Junction and create a seamless signal-free corridor. Expected to reduce commute times by 15\u201320 minutes while lowering fuel consumption and emissions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Area Impacted: <\/strong>Murugeshpalya, Konena Agrahara, HAL, Domlur, HAL Stage 2, and Belur Nagasandra.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-conclusion-nbsp\" style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Conclusion&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The GBA&#8217;s plan to undertake road infrastructure projects is expected to have a significant impact on improving the connectivity and reducing congestion in the city.
