Overview & What to Expect

Pakistan’s side is the one that has the advantage in this series and therefore, their objective will be to win the second ODI and by that to clinch the series. On the other hand, Sri Lanka is the team that has to fight again and try to stay in the competition for the series. The pitch at Rawalpindi is good for batting and the last match was very close, which proves the high competition level between the two teams.

First ODI Summary

Pakistan was the 1st team to bat and accumulated 299 runs for 5 wickets in 50 overs. The main contributors were Salman Ali Agha who scored an unbeaten 105 in 87 balls and Hussain Talat who provided good support with his 62 runs in 63 balls. Sri Lanka’s answer was 293 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs, where Wanindu Hasaranga was the top scorer with 59 runs in 52 balls. 

Pakistan just managed to win by 6 runs and thus took the lead of 1-0 in the three-match series. The key moment: Sri Lanka had a very good start to their innings and they were at 75 runs in the first 10 overs, but Haris Rauf’s 3 wickets in one over changed the situation and Pakistan took charge again.
