The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies, starting on October 18 in Dhaka. One of the key updates is that Litton Das has been ruled out due to injury.

Bangladesh’s ODI Squad for West Indies Series

Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Captain), Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Soumya Sarkar, Mohammed Saif Hassan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Jaker Ali Anik, Shamim Hossain, Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, Rishad Hossain, Tanvir Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Hasan Mahmud

Litton Das Sidelined with Injury

Litton suffered a side strain during a practice session at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on September 22, just before the Asia Cup. While attempting a square cut, he felt pain on the left side of his waist.

Team physio Bayzid ul Islam examined him immediately, after which he was withdrawn from training and later ruled out of the Asia Cup. Scans showed he still needs more time to recover, leading the management to rest him for the West Indies series to avoid further risk.

Soumya Sarkar Returns for ODI Series vs West Indies

In Litton’s absence, Soumya Sarkar makes a return to the national side. The experienced opener last played for Bangladesh during the Champions Trophy in Dubai.
His comeback gives him a great chance to prove his worth once again in the 50-over format and strengthen Bangladesh’s top order.

Mahidul Islam Ankon Gets His Chance

A new addition to the squad is Mahidul Islam Ankon, a wicketkeeper-batter who has been in excellent touch in domestic cricket. He has scored 3,429 runs in 90 List A matches at an average of 44.53, including four centuries and 28 half-centuries.
His consistent form has finally earned him a call-up to the national side.

Meanwhile, a few players from the previous series against Afghanistan — such as opener Naim Sheikh and fast bowler Nahid Rana — have been dropped. Their absence opens up opportunities for others to step in and perform.

A Chance to Bounce Back

Bangladesh will be eager to recover after a 3-0 series loss to Afghanistan in the UAE. Playing in home conditions at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium will give them a strong chance to regain form and confidence before their upcoming international assignments.
