Although the Indian women’s cricket team that won the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup made history, there will not be an immediate victory parade to celebrate their success. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asserted that the triumph will be celebrated, but there is no public celebration planned at this time.

The Indian women’ team defeated the South African women’s team by 52 runs in the final match, claiming the trophy for the first time. India’s victory, which was a historic moment for women’s cricketers in India, led to huge celebrations all over the country.

However, the board has decided to postpone any open-bus parade in the streets. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia stated that the next meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Dubai is the top priority right now and the celebrations will be held only after the officials return.

There are multiple factors that lead to the decision. The board mentions that major logistics and safety planning have to be done for a parade due to past incidents; they also require time to plan the event of recognition in a formal way. At the same time, they are saying that the team will be honoured just in a different way than what many fans anticipated, that is, in the immediate, spontaneous parade style.

On top of that, there is also a different matter which BCCI intends to discuss at ICC meeting: the lost trophy of the 2025 Asia Cup. Earlier this year, India(Men’s Cricket team)  had clinched the Asia Cup but the trophy transfer was held up and the team did not get it officially. The BCCI has declared that it will bring the Asia Cup trophy issue before the ICC as soon as the meeting starts.

Though it might take a while for players and fans to receive the recognition, the acknowledgment is still to arrive. The women’s team has created an unforgettable moment in Indian sports history and although the celebrations might be a bit late, the recognition is coming and the victory will always be remembered.

What Happens Next?

After the ICC meetings in Dubai, the BCCI is likely to hold a meeting with top officials and then fix the exact format, venue and date for the celebration event. The objective is to make the moment grand, respectful and truly worthy of a world cup winning side rather than a rushed or hurried affair. The board is determined to ensure that the event is an unforgettable one for both players and the audience.

Moreover, it is being planned that once the Asia Cup trophy issue is cleared and officially settled with ICC & ACC, both trophies Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 & Men’s Asia Cup 2025 could be displayed together at the celebration event. In that case, it would become a double historic moment for the Indian cricket team.

Currently, all that Indian fans can do is wait a bit longer. The celebration may be delayed, but when it finally comes it will be colossal, full of emotions and one of the proudest days in Indian cricket history.
