The much-loved Hong Kong Cricket Sixes will be taking place from November 7 to 9, 2025, at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong. It is Managed by Cricket Hong Kong and supported by the ICC, the event brings fast-paced cricket to fans. After its 2024 comeback, the 2025 edition will once again welcome 12 international sides for three days of thrilling action. 

What is the Hong Kong Sixes? 

The Hong Kong Sixes is an international six-a-side cricket tournament which began in 1992. It is famous for its short, thrilling matches, big hitting, and very lively atmosphere. Unlike regular cricket, each team has only six players, so every delivery 

is important, it matters. The tournament aims to bring together fun, creativity, and fast-paced action, making it a favorite for both fans and broadcasters.

Format of the Tournament 

The 2025 Hong Kong Sixes will be follow a six-a-side structure: 

  • Each team: 6 players (five fielders and one wicketkeeper) 
  • Each innings: 6 overs (six balls per over) 
  • Every fielder (except the wicketkeeper) must bowl one over 
  • Teams are split into groups, and the top two from each group advance to the knockout rounds, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final 
  • Teams that don’t qualify enter the Plate or Bowl competitions, ensuring every side gets more playtime. 

Rules to Know 

The Sixes have a few unique and exciting rules: 

  • Wides and no-balls: Add two runs to the batting side and are re-bowled.
  • Batsman retirement: A batsman must retire not out on reaching 31 runs, but can return if other wickets fall. 
  • Last man standing: If five wickets fall, the last batsman continues with the fifth dismissed player as a runner until he’s out. 
  • Boundary dimensions: Smaller than standard grounds to encourage aggressive play and quick scoring.
