On Monday, October 27, Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the Test squad for their upcoming series against India. The South African team is currently in Pakistan for their all-format tour and will soon travel to India for a series of Test matches and limited-overs games against the Men in Blue.
Temba Bavuma returns as South Africa’s Test captain after recovering from a left calf injury he got during the England tour in September. Bavuma will miss the white-ball matches in Pakistan but will play in the second red-ball game for South Africa A against India A in Bengaluru, as part of his preparation before joining the main Test squad.
With Bavuma back, David Bedingham has missed out on selection. This is the only change from the squad that recently played against Pakistan. CSA confirmed on X, “The South African Men’s selection panel has announced the 15-player squad for the two-match Test series against India from 14–26 November. Test captain Temba Bavuma returns after recovering from a left calf strain.”
Aiden Markram will continue to anchor the top order with Ryan Rickelton, while all-rounders Wiaan Mulder, Corbin Bosch, and Marco Jansen add depth to the team. Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj will lead the bowling, supported by Simon Harmer, who recently achieved 1,000 first-class wickets.
