Luciano Spalletti has agreed to become the new Juventus manager. The series A team have signed a contract with the former Italy national team head coach with a verbal agreement until June 2026+ option to extend based on the Champions league spot of the cub by the end of the season. The official announcement is set to be published on Thursday.

Why the Change?

Juventus sacked former coach Igor Tudor after an 8- match winless streak. “The club thanks Igor Tudor and his entire staff for their professionalism and dedication over the past few months and wishes them all the best for their future careers,” a Juventus statement read. Juventus added that Massimiliano Brambilla will take charge of the side for their Serie A fixture against Udinese on Wednesday.

Before the announcement, Spalletti expressed his eagerness to return to coaching. He believes that any coach would be fortunate to lead the Italian football club amid ongoing rumours. Spalletti expressed his interest in the role, stating, “I feel good, I wait with serenity. I have the ambition to set things right.” He also praised Tudor as a dedicated professional and noted that any successor would inherit a well-prepared squad.

Besides coaching the national Italian football team, he is also the coach who broke Napoli’s “Scudetto drought” referring to the long period without a Serie A league title for the Italian football club Napoli.

Spalletti has also coached some Italian teams besides Napoli, he coached his career through Inter Milan, Roma, and especially being successful with Totti in Rome. At Juventus, the Italian coach might set his chances to redeem his career after his failure to qualify the National team and demolished dreams of the club in the UEFA qualifiers after a 0-3 loss against Norway.

This two-year initial contract offered by Juventus would allow Spalletti to implement his playing style and creative formations and lineups for the team. This will help the team by shaping the players’ names in the market for upcoming transfers and signings. It will be Spalletti’s first cub job since 2023, ending with Napoli after 2 years of his leadership.

‘He’ll be eager for revenge’ – Juventus made the right choice hiring Luciano Spalletti.

Juventus legends Gianluigi Buffon and Fabio Capello have been vocal in their statements. On Spalletti, Capello added: “A coach of value and experience. He’s already led big clubs and won. After the disappointment against Italy, he’ll be eager for revenge. What better way to start again than with a renowned team like Juventus? Spalletti has the right charisma to lift the Bianconeri out of a difficult moment. Paradoxically, the most positive aspect is the league table: Juve are only six points behind leaders Napoli and Roma. [Raffaele] Palladino? He did well with Monza and Fiorentina, but Juventus are on a higher level.”

Buffon, Juve’s second-highest appearance maker after Alessandro Del Piero, also expressed his faith in Spalletti. “For me, Luciano is the right profile for any big club that wants to remain ambitious,” the iconic goalkeeper said at a Sport ceremony on Monday. The duo worked closely in the National team.
