Match Preview
Real Madrid have truly been in great form, having a zero-loss streak in their recent matches. While Liverpool debuted in the league poorly, however the Reds will gain a lot of confidence after one of their best performances against Aston Villa.
The Spanish giants started the season brilliantly. Xabi Alonso was under the radar after Real Madrid’s embarrassing loss to Atletico Madrid 5-2. But the team has always been known for their comebacks, best proven by their victory over their longest rival Barcelona beating them 2-1. The British club will have to pull out their big guns under Slot’s leadership, while the coach remains under immense scrutiny.
Liverpool’s feelings won’t change, says Alexander Arnold
After receiving hate and criticism from his former club, the former defender for Liverpool, Alexander Arnold, says that his feelings for Liverpool would never change irrespective of the criticism he gets.
“No matter what, my feelings won’t change towards Liverpool,” the 27-year-old full-back told Amazon Prime, when asked if getting a good reception back at Anfield would give him closure.
“I have got memories there that will last me a lifetime and no matter how I am received, that won’t change. I think whichever way I am received is the decision of the fans. I will always love the club. I will always be a fan of the club. I will always be thankful for the opportunities [Liverpool gave me] and everything that we achieved together will live with me forever.”
He made 354 appearances for his boyhood club, turning out for the final time in May against Crystal Palace, after which they were presented with the Premier League trophy. He also commented that he would not celebrate if he scored a goal against his former club.
