Ahead of IPL 2026, a breathtaking trade talk is going on the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals are negotiating a blockbuster deal that would see Sanju Samson come to CSK while Ravindra Jadeja going the other way to RR. The Royals have asked for Jadeja and another top player as well, whereas the Super Kings are insisting on Sam Curran being included in the swap.
The trade has already turned into a huge saga, as Jadeja pulled the plug on his Instagram account and even Pathirana’s agent has dropped a hint that a big thing is happening. This is the most significant trade story before IPL 2026, and the fans are eager to know the outcome of this move.
What is the deal about?
Rajasthan Royals are ready to trade their captain Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings. But in return, RR wanted Ravindra Jadeja from CSK. Along with that RR also wanted dewald brevis/Sam Curran/matheesha pathirana.
At one point, reports even said RR demanded Jadeja + Shivam Dube + Dewald Brevis for Samson. CSK immediately rejected that because they don’t want to break their core strength.

CSK is ready to include Jadeja only if they get the right balance back in the trade. CSK prefer Sam Curran as the second player in the exchange. But RR are pushing more for Matheesha Pathirana because he is young and can be a long-term investment in their bowling attack. This difference is the reason the talks are taking time.
As of now, what RR wants is to get Ravindra Jadeja and either Sam Curran or Matheesha Pathirana in exchange for their captain Sanju Samson. According to ESPNcricinfo and Cricbuzz, the deal is almost finalized, but we’ll have to wait for official confirmation from the franchise. Hopefully, the deal satisfies fans of both franchises!

Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana reaction!
Ravindra Jadeja’s Instagram account has been deactivated for the past few days. Fans are speculating that Jadeja might have known about this potential trade earlier and isn’t happy with the deal, which could be why he deactivated his account.
On the other hand, Matheesha Pathirana also deactivated his Instagram account this morning (10/11/25). Interestingly, a day before that, his manager posted an Instagram story saying “loading.” This clearly suggests that both CSK players might not be interested in the trade deal or in leaving the CSK franchise.

This is not a typical IPL transfer. It is valuation of captain, valuation of senior all-rounder, valuation of the brand and emotions of the fans all bundled into one. CSK and RR are always hunting for the utmost advantages before the year 2026.
