West Indies cricket team has taken a significant step with the return of the experienced pacer Kemar Roach ahead of their three-Test series against New Zealand. The 37-year-old Roach, who had been away from Test cricket, will return to Dubai squad because two regular fast bowlers of the West Indies team are injured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a clear sign that the team is relying heavily on the experienced players to cope with the difficulty of the overseas tour since it is part of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The squad, announced on November 20, 2025, features a blend of experience and fresh talent: Roston Chase (captain), Jomel Warrican (vice-captain), Alick Athanaze, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Shai Hope, Tevin Imlach, Brandon King, Johann Layne, Anderson Phillip, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales and Ojay Shields (first-time call-up).<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inclusion of Roach boosts the pace attack significantly, especially as the pitches in New Zealand are expected to favour seamers. His leadership and familiarity with tough conditions will be valuable for the touring side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roach’s comeback is a direct result of the non-availability of both Alzarri Joseph and Shamar Joseph for the series because of injuries. West Indies have reacted to the situation by bringing back Roach and additionally including Kavem Hodge and Ojay Shields as support for the absent bowlers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The squad has undergone a high-performance camp in Antigua and is determined to acclimatize to the fast and bowler-friendly conditions in New Zealand. This series is an opportunity for the West Indies to turn the WTC cycle in their favor right from the start, as they are coming from the last position in the standings due to prior losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
