Synopsis: Chemical stock surged 5 percent after strong Q1 FY27 results, driven by a 427 percent YoY jump in profit, supported by higher revenue from its acids and chemicals segment.

The share of this company, which deals in a wide range of acids and chemicals for industries like textiles, steel, agriculture, etc, gained investor focus after posting strong Q1 results.

With a market capitalization of Rs 263 crore, A-1 Ltd’s share on Tuesday made a day high of Rs 5.71 per share, up by 5 percent, hitting the upper circuit from its previous day’s close price of Rs 5.44 per share. The share of the company gave a negative return of 65 percent over the last year.

QoQ Performance

Revenue from operations grew by 20.48 percent to Rs 175.01 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 145.27 crore in Q4 FY26, while Profit Before Tax declined by 25.98 percent to Rs 4.30 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 5.81 crore in Q4 FY26.

Accompanied by a decrease in Profit After Tax of 27.52 percent to Rs 3.16 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 4.36 crore in Q4 FY26, resulting in an Earnings Per Share decrease of 22.22 percent to Rs 0.07 per share in Q1 FY27 from Rs 0.09 per share in Q4 FY26.

YoY Performance

The revenue from operations grew by 170.53 percent YoY to Rs 175.01 crore in Q1 FY27  from Rs 64.69 crore in Q1 FY26, and Profit Before Tax grew by 411.90 percent YoY to Rs 4.30 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 0.84 crore in Q1 FY26. 

Accompanied by a Profit After Tax growth of 426.67 percent YoY to Rs 3.16 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 0.60 crore in Q1 FY26, resulting in an Earnings Per Share growth of 600 percent to Rs 0.07 per share in Q1 FY27 from Rs 0.01 per share in Q1 FY26.

Segment performance

The company reported total sales of Rs 175.13 crore in Q1 FY27, compared to Rs 64.79 crore in Q1 FY26, marking a 170.32 percent YoY growth. On a QoQ basis, sales increased from Rs 145.39 crore in Q4 FY26 to Rs 175.13 crore, reflecting a 20.47 percent rise.

The Acids and Chemicals segment remained the key contributor, generating revenue of Rs 171.95 crore in Q1 FY27, compared to Rs 64.79 crore in Q1 FY26, registering a 165.40 percent YoY growth. Sequentially, revenue grew from Rs 138.73 crore in Q4 FY26, up 23.96 percent QoQ. The Sports Equipment segment reported revenue of Rs 3.18 crore in Q1 FY27, compared to Rs 6.67 crore in Q4 FY26, declining 52.34 percent QoQ.

Incorporated in 2004, A-1 Ltd is an Indian company established in 1975, specialising in the wholesale trading and transportation of industrial acids and chemicals like Nitric Acid, Sulphuric Acid, and Methanol, serving diverse sectors across India. The company uses its own fleet of tankers for logistics, focusing on high customer satisfaction, transparency, and strong corporate governance, while also expanding into the EV sector.

The shareholding pattern in Q1 FY27 remained largely stable, with promoter holding unchanged at 70.03 percent compared to Q1 FY26. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) reduced their stake to 2.51 percent from 5.80 percent during the same period, while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) continued to hold no stake. Meanwhile, public shareholding increased to 27.47 percent from 24.17 percent in Q1 FY26.
