After months of speculations and various media outlets claiming any reasons for Deepika Padukone‘s leave from the film. The answer is finally here and it came from the star herself. Deepika exited two high budget production films recently that includes Kalki 2.

In a recent interview with the media she revealed why the big production doesn’t woo her anymore. Continue reading below to find out more about what the popular actress has revealed.

Conflicting Reasons Emerge

Padukone’s exit from Kalki 2 was officially announced by the Vyjayanthi Movies in September of this year The production house later mentioned that they were unable to “find a partnership” with the actor. This also implied that the production team directed towards a lack of commitment from the actor for a film of that scale.

However, multiple reports and statements from the actress offer different perspectives on the fallout. One of the most dominant ones was the reason relating to the work hours and her being a new mother.

Bollywood is already aware that Deepika has been in the talk for demanding an eight hour work shift for women as well. She has openly advocated for the new mothers returning to work to have a work and life balance thus arguing that “”we mistake burnout for commitment“.

The production house was in reports for denying the actor’s demand and thus had to walk away at the time. Reports also circulated that Padukone’s team demanded a significant (around 25 percent) fee hike for the sequel.

A demand the producers refused to meet and especially given that co-star Prabhas had not requested an increment.

The Recent Revelation

In recent interviews, Padukone has addressed the reason for her leaving on a more broader aspect. In the interview with Harper’s Bazaar India she stated that “fame, success, or money” no longer drive her career choices.

She made the big revelation by stating that the “₹500-₹600 crore films no longer impress” her and her main focus is centered towards “enabling storytelling and supporting other creative minds“.

Her stance for a good work-life balance, especially when she is a mother now, is seen through her ways of gracefully exiting projects that no longer serve her.

Conclusion

Padukone is one of the Indian actors who openly talks about the imbalance in the acting career. Her reason for turning down projects, reporting after shooting for 20 days, has once again proved that she stands by what she says. This take from her clearly divided her fans into two but the more important fact is that she stands her ground with confidence and elegance.
