Sonam Kapoor announced the news with an Instagram post, wearing a pink Diana-inspired dress with a heartfelt caption “mother” that went viral in no time.
On Thursday, the star known for her famous role of Neerja announced her happy news via a post on her Instagram handle. She flaunted her baby bump along with a caption “mother”. On her Instagram story, the actress also wrote, “Coming Spring 2026.”
Kareena Kapoor commented “Sona and Anand” with red heart emojis. Priyanka Chopra and Bhumi Pendekkar extended their heartfelt congratulations while Parineeti Chopra commented “Congrats mamacitaaa”. Many other celebrity personalities congratulated Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja on the news.
Sonam Kapoor tied the knot with Anand Ahuja in a grand wedding ceremony in May 2018, after being in a relationship for several years. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, whom they named Vayu, in August 2022.
Rumours about her pregnancy went afloat in the initial days of October. At that time, she was speculated to be going through her second trimester.
Sonam Kapoor, who is the daughter of the actor Anil Kapoor began her career in the Bollywood industry as an assistant director on filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2005 film Black.

She later made her acting debut in Bhansali’s romantic drama Saawariya in 2007. Her major hits were I Hate Luv Storys, Raanjhanaa, and found success with supporting roles in the biopics Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Sanju, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Neerja, and Veere Di Wedding.
She was last seen in a film, “Blind” which was released in 2023. The crime thriller was directed by Shome Makhija, and she starred opposite Purab Kohli. The movie is a remake of a 2011 Korean movie with the same name, centred around a blind police officer in search of a serial killer.
