Manoj Bajpayee’s spy thriller has created a cultural phenomenon like no other series in the past nine years could. The first season which dropped on September 20, 2019 caught massive attention and became a sensation in no time.
The season 2 was dropped after 2 years which became a successful hit again. The most awaited season, Season 3 took 4 years of gap and the wait was worth it!
With a new location, characters and a new storyline the directors have brought a new twist in the story with the appearance of Farzi actor, Vijay Sethupati.
According to multiple industry reports, Vijay Sethupathi appears in The Family Man Season 3 in a short but important cameo. While the makers have kept this scene a secret, the cameo is said to appear mid-season.
Where and how does he appear?
Sources suggest his appearance is placed cleverly within an operational sequence, in a setting that immediately links back to his Farzi world. It isn’t long or plot-altering, but the kind of moment that makes you pause the scene, replay a bit and connect everything again.
In an episode, Srikant (played by Manoj Bajpayee) and JK (Sharib) will have to cross the border in order to track down Rukpa who is in Myanmar. Here Micahel will make a grand entry helping both of them to cross the fence illegally. This Michael-Srikant interaction is the major highlight of the series.
Why has this created a Buzz?
Because Sethupathi’s presence is iconic on its own, but more importantly, it acts as a deliberate breadcrumb, hinting that Raj & DK aren’t afraid to let their two biggest OTT creations overlap. The cameo is fan service, yes, but also a universe-building tool that opens the door for bigger crossovers in the future.
Are The Family Man and Farzi Connected?
Yes they definitely are connected and the seeds were planted long ago. Earlier in one of the episodes, Farzi ‘Chellam sir’ had reached out to ‘Michael’ for help. The loyal fans of the Raj and DK series must have anticipated this crossover much before the news came out.
When Farzi released in 2023, there were familiar names, references and even a cameo from the Family Man universe, confirming that Raj & DK were trying to create a shared universe.
The creators themselves later confessed that both shows were parallel worlds with separate stories but it may intersect and meet under the same frame one day and it happened!
We don’t even have to think too hard because there were all these signs:
- Characters from The Family Man were referenced in Farzi.
- Both shows share similar intelligence-agency backdrops.
- Raj & DK used easter eggs to show the overlapping timelines and introduced cameos to link the two.
- Both are based on crime, politics, and corruption threatening national security.
Fans are enjoying this Marvel style connectivity, so creative but an entirely different story. You don’t need to watch ‘Farzi’ to understand ‘Family Man’ so there is a connection but none of their storyline depends on each other. This shared universe brings in more depth and another angle to the story.
