With the release of Superman, DC kickstarted a new universe and fans have been speculating if DC is onto a reboot like Marvel. Well, Marvel recently announced all its upcoming project for 2026 and fans are all set to camp outside theatres. Now, it’s time to uncover what DC Universe has in its store for us.
Superman and Pacemaker season 2 has already closed the chapter for DC releases this year. We are equally tired of asking for more, and guess what? They heard us. Major Theatrical Releases for 2026
1. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (June 26, 2026)

Based on Tom King’s award winning 2021 comic, the movie “Supergirl: Woman of tomorrow” features the cosmic revenge quest of Sperman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El. She meets a young alien girl Ruthye who is hunting her family’s killers.
Jason Momoa is diving back into DC but this time he’s bringing his space bike. As the new chapter is a complete reset, the actors are being recasted into new roles. So, the King of Atlantis became a bounty hunter Lobo.
James Gunn described this first female-led movie of the new chapter as “a much more hardcore character.”
2. Clayface (September 11, 2026)

The first solo villain film with the long hidden monster of Gotham will finally be sen under the spotlight. The story revolves around Matt Hagen, an actor who is obsessed with his fame. He gets into an accident which ends up disfiguring him. He desperately experiments with chemical compunds to fix himself but ends up transforming his body into a living clay. He gets the power to shape-shift and mimic anyone. The power slowly destroys his sanity turning him into a villain.
The movie is expected to be creepy, suspenseful and carry all the elements of a psychological horror movie. Expect the unique blend of comic-horror as it is being penned by Mike Flanagan who gave us Haunting of the Hill House, Midnight Mass.

3. Lanterns (2026)

Finally we are being introduced to the cosmic side of james Gunn’s DC Universe. A prominent role to a Black Lantern Hero is a huge win for the fans!
This live-action show is one of the most awaited series. The Lanterns Hal and John with other lanterns set to explore threats on Earth while they face huge mysteries. These mysteries later will connect to the broader DCU.
Expect powerful CGI battles with space-storytelling. A new Guardians of the Galaxy but with DC flavour.
4. Waller (TV Series, 2026)

Watch Amanda manipulate both heroes and villains in order to protect the global security. Waller dives deep into the thin line between heroism and moral ambiguity. This movie brings forward a spy thriller with Superhero meetup, a rare scenario in the DC Universe.
Fans may expect surprise cameos and connection with other DCU projects like Suicide Squad and The Authority.
5. Swamp Thing (Film, 2026 or beyond)

Swamp thing has been one long ongoing topics in DC Universe. The movie was announced years ago but due to the busy schedule of the writers the movie keeps getting delayed. Some sources suggested that due to no good script the movie is on the verge of getting cancelled.
But the recent interview came as a ray of hope. James Gunn stated that James is still distracted by his millions of other projects but they are talking about the script again.
Until now, no information has been shared by DC Studios or James Gunn about the cast, plot or storyline of the ‘Swamp Thing’ but the movie is likely to draw inspiration from Moore’s Swamp Thing Vol. 1 released in 1985.

James Gunn has confirmed the new Superman movie and it is expected to begin by April 2026 and if all goes as planned it will be released by late 2026 or beyond.
Lex Luther’s armoured suit designed to fight Superman from the comics is ready to make its debut in the live-action movie. The film is rumoured to feature characters like Lobo, Peacemaker and Green Lantern.
7. The Batman Part II (Film, 2026 or beyond)

Internet has never stopped bustling with posts appreciating the first Batman movie by Matt Reeves. Fans are dying to know what’s next for the Gotham’s hero. There are strong speculations of the finished script and now the production will begin soon. Rumors are that the story will take on the storyline of ‘No Man’s Land’ from the comics.
The story of Gotham being abandoned by the government as a wasteland post-apocalypse fits perfectly with the theme Reeves has established in the previous movie. Though there is no official update but there are high chances of this masterpiece to appear in the late 2026 or beyond.
Though there are three major confirmed releases but the others are yet to be officially confirmed. The mega projects might have a slight shift in their release dates depending on the script and the production length.
