The Bollywood industry lost its legendary gem, Dharmendra. Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89 due to numerous health complications and old age on November 24, Monday at his residence. The Deol family has organised a prayer meet for people to pay their respects.
His final rites were conducted the same day of his demise with several Bollywood stars, including Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, in attendance.
Dharmendra’s demise has the entire Bollywood industry and fans filled with sorrow and agony. The funeral was hosted privately by family members and close relatives. The Deol family has organised a small prayer meet ‘Celebration of Life’ in his memories.
The heartfelt gathering would feature his songs sung by Sonu Nigam.
The family revealed that the gathering would be hosted at the Seaside Lawns, Taj Lands’ End in Bandra, Mumbai on November 27. The event is scheduled from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
This prayer meet is organised to remember the late veteran actor’s persona, creating a joyful atmosphere.
Dharmendra was a humble member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India for the Bikaner constituency in Rajasthan representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was offered a state funeral where the state officials would pay their tribute through gun salutes. However, his family opted against the ritual.
Dharmendra passed away before his last film Ikkis. The movie is a war-based movie where Dharmendra plays a senior role with Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda.
The Ikkis director Sriram Raghavan shared with NDTV, “It was somewhat demanding, so he would often feel fatigued, and at times our schedules were quite intense. I would say to him, ‘Sir, we have one more shot in this scene’ and he would respond, ‘Yes, tell me’.

I was aware he was weary, yet he would reply, ‘Alright, let’s proceed’. And when the cameras started rolling, he was simply enchanting. He was extraordinary.”
Dharmendra featured in more than 300 films as he was known and celebrated for his versatility, he delivered some of the most iconic performances. He was kind as a person on-screen and off screen.
