Synopsis: Highness Microelectronics Ltd (HM) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for a strategic technology transfer from a leading Chinese manufacturer. This move makes HM the only company in India with the capability to cut and resize TFT-LCD modules, targeting the high-growth transportation sector.
In a major stride for the “Make in India” initiative, Highness Microelectronics Ltd (HM) announced on April 20, 2026, the signing of a landmark technology transfer agreement for the glass-cutting and resizing of TFT-LCD modules.
Finalized in Suzhou, China, the partnership equips HM with proprietary processes and technical designs to manufacture customized display solutions for the transportation sector, including Railways and Urban Mobility. This strategic move makes Highness the sole entity in India capable of resizing TFT-LCD modules across a wide range of variants, from 4.3″ to 58.4″.
By localizing the production of ultra-wide “stretched” displays components that were previously import-dependent the company is poised to dominate the domestic supply chain for metro coaches and public information systems while expanding its reach into Australia and New Zealand.
Despite the landmark technology transfer announcement, Highness Microelectronics Ltd (HIGHNESS) witnessed a volatile trading session on April 20, 2026. The stock initially surged to a new 52-week high of ₹132.10 during early trades, but faced profit-booking as the session progressed. By 14:18 IST, the shares were trading at ₹118.80, down 5.41%from the previous close.
Notwithstanding the price dip, investor conviction remained evident with a solid delivery percentage of 63.50% and a total turnover of ₹2.41 crore, suggesting that long-term players are using the volatility to consolidate positions following the company’s recent listing.
Based in Mumbai, Highness Microelectronics is a prominent manufacturer of professional digital imaging and display solutions. Its products are widely used in aviation, healthcare, and industrial automation. By securing this technology, HM is moving up the value chain from an integrator to a specialized manufacturer with a significant competitive moat in the Indian electronics ecosystem.
The move is expected to significantly reduce lead times and costs for domestic transit authorities while positioning Highness as a key exporter to the Oceanic markets.
