1. Visakhapatnam

It is the heart of Andhra Pradesh growth strategy. The state articulated a bold ambition to transform Greater Vishakhapatnam into a $1 trillion economic corridor, It is becoming a tech giant with Google’s AI data center, Adani’s massive investment in green energy, data infra and ports, plus focus on defence corridor. 

  • Meta platforms is said to partner Sify for a 500 MW AI data center.
  • Investment of Rs. 87520 crore by Raiden Infotech (google subsidiary) to build a 1 GW data center cluster across 3 campuses in Tarluvada, Adavivaram & Rambilli. 
  • 50 MW AI powered edge Data Center and open cable landing station by Sify Technologies at Rushikonda the 1,500 world class facility.  
  • Google’s 1GW AI Data center to generate Rs. 10,000 crore. 
  • Google & Adani are setting up a multi-site AI campus of $ 15 billion data center will be AI compute, subsea cables access and green energy. 
  • Digital Connexion (Reliance Brookfield JV) is setting up 1 GW data center with a Rs. 9800 crore investment by 2030.

2. Kakinada: Gateway to a New Industrial Coast

Kakinada is transitioning from a traditional port town into a major industrial and logistics hub. The centerpiece of this transformation is the Kakinada Gateway Port, being developed over about 1,650 acres as part of Kakinada SEZ.  It is designed to handle around 16 million tonnes of diverse cargo, growing as a hub for petroleum logistics, agriculture exports and clean energy. 

  • Kakinada’s development in 2025 focuses on its smart city vision leveraging its part for O&G and infrastructure upgrades under the Kakinada Master plan 2035, with ongoing tech / business, green projects centred on digitization. 
  • Aurobindo Group has announced a mega infrastructure push to develop Kakinada Port SEZ as an industrial- Logistics hub. By increasing the capacity by 50 million tonnes per annum by 2028 with a master plan of 100 MTPA.  
  • Quantum Valley Tech Park: A joint venture IBM / TCS announced in May 2025 with Kakinada being a strong possibility for its location.
  • Andhra Pradesh Data Center Advisory Council formed to achieve 6,000 MW capacity by 2030, synchronizing power, permissions and infrastructure tech giants like Google and Sify.   

3. Machilipatnam: Reborn as a Modern Maritime Hub

It is a town with centuries of maritime history, and is witnessing a major revival through the new greenfield Machillipatanam Port. This place is  Developing into an EV jewellery, auto component zone with strong port integration. 

  • Machillipatanam Port is being developed by Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited  project expected to drive industrial and logistics growth in this region, which will be completed by 2026 the first phase costs over Rs. 5155 crore. 
  • Apexnuera Technologies Private Limited have established operations in Machillipatnam with the mission to foster Local IT talent and provide employment opportunities.

4. Krishnapatnam: Port Led Smart Industrial City

This city is evolving from a standalone port into a planned industrial city with national level backing. Krishnapatnam is building an electronics & cleantech cluster, solar power units and coal export facilities. 

  • The Krishnapatnam Industrial Area developed under the National Industrial corridor programme about 2500 acres with investment of Rs. 10,500 crore expected to generate around 98,000 jobs. 
  • The port led industrial city has a strong connectivity to major economic centres such as Bengaluru, Ananthapur, Vijayawada and Chennai.

5. Amravati: The Revived Greenfield Capital

Amravati is envisioned as a greenfield capital city on the banks of the Krishna River. It is a planned capital city, envisioned as a sustainable smart urban center for innovation and governance.  

  • The concept of dedicated high tech zone the Amaravati Quantum Valley is underway. A Quantum Data Center is being planned in Amravati to push into advanced computing infrastructure, aligning with national ambitions in quantum tech. 
  • The city aims to scale up data center hosting capacity across Andhra Pradesh to 6 GW within the next few years, leveraging earlier large deals. 
  • Ratan Tata Innovation Hub incubating startups and fostering deep fate. 
  • BITS Pilani AI Campus launched with Rs. 1000 crore investment focusing on AI, Data Science, Robotics, etc. creating a future ready talent pool. 

Future Outlook

Andhra Pradesh is emerging as one of the strongest state with multi dollar investments and AI data centers, the cities like Vizag and Vijaywada has major projects on tech and data center campus.
