10 Major road expansion projects across the city
1. PVNR Expressway Pillar 117–Aramghar Crossroads
This is the biggest road widening project in the approved list. The 7.12-km section will be widened from 45 metres to 60 metres, resulting in a broader corridor that will link the PVNR Expressway with the Aramghar Junction. The upgrade will alleviate congestion at the railway station for commuters using trains between the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, NH 44, Shamshabad, Mehdipatnam and central part of the city, and enhance the traffic flow around the busiest transport hub in the city.
2. GVK Mall Junction–KBR Park Road
The 1.19km stretch between GVK Mall junction and KBR Park will be upgraded to 24 metres wide. This corridor is right in the middle of Banjara hills and a lot of commercial activities, offices and recreational places can be seen here so traffic is heavy here. The widening will help enhance traffic flow and ease congestion in one of the busiest upscale neighbourhoods in Hyderabad.
3. Priya Theatre–Ravindra Bharathi School Road
The 0.26 km road from Priya Theatre to Ravindra Bharathi School will be expanded to 24 metres. The corridor is densely populated residential and commercial areas and the expansion is anticipated to decrease local traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and offer a smoother commute for all residents.
4. HITEC City Junction–Madhapur Metro Station
The 2.58km stretch from HITEC City Junction to Madhapur Metro Station will be widened from 30 metres to 36 metres. The road is in the prime IT corridor of Hyderabad, which gets a lot of traffic from office, Metro commuters and commercial areas. The widening will help alleviate peak hour congestion, facilitate access to the Metro station and will help to simplify the flow in the HITEC City–Madhapur business district.
5. Ranga Bhujanga Theatre–NH 44 (Narsapur Road)
The 3.48 km section between Ranga Bhujanga Theatre and NH 44 (Narsapur Road) will get an elevation from the existing 38 metres to 24 metres. It is a major gateway to the commuters who travel between western Hyderabad and NH 44. This expansion is anticipated to facilitate traffic flow, alleviate traffic congestion and enhance connectivity to emerging residential and commercial zones that are located along the corridor.
6. NH 44–Alwal Circle
The road corridor from NH 44 to Alwal Circle will be widened to 24 metres and a new flyover will be built to link the two. The corridor is a significant traffic-way for people residing in Alwal, Suchitra and adjoining Defence establishments and is heavily used on a daily basis. The widening will provide better connectivity to NH 44, decrease congestion, and aid the area’s expanding residential development.
7. Nallakunta Vegetable Market Road
The 0.62km Nallakunta Vegetable Market road will be widened from 15 meters to 24 meters. The street is a busy transportation route with a high volume of commercial traffic, which can lead to congestion and parking issues. The widening will ease congestion, better access to adjacent residential areas and better flow of goods and commuters.
8. Marwadi Law College–Sundarayya Park
The 1.79km road from Marwadi Law College to Sundarayya Park will be expanded to 24 metres. This corridor is in the city center of Hyderabad and caters to educational institutes, residential areas and commercial buildings. The widening will help alleviate congestion in the area, enhance road safety, and help connect the daily commuters.
9. Himayatnagar Circle–Mahek Hotel
The 0.56km stretch between the Himayatnagar Circle and Mahek Hotel will be widened to 30 meters.. The corridor is located in a high traffic area, with a lot of commercial and educational activities going on there during the day. The expansion is projected to alleviate traffic congestion, enhance traffic flow and connectivity to the surrounding business districts and public institutions.
10. Neredmet Crossroads Road
The 2.82km Neredmet Crossroads road will be widened to 30 metres. The corridor is situated in the north-eastern suburbs of the city of Hyderabad, and links to high population density areas of residential development as well as heavy local traffic. The widening will enable better connectivity, ease congestion at the intersection and smoothen traffic towards ECIL, Sainikpuri and adjoining areas.
