Synopsis: The Mysuru–Kushalnagar Highway is a road project, this project is being built under the Bharatmala Pariyojana and is going to have four lanes to make it easier, faster and safer. for travellers to get from Mysuru to Kodagu.
It is a road project by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), they are making the Mysuru–Kushalnagar Highway into a road with four lanes, it is part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana plan. The Government of India started this plan to make roads better over the country, when the highway is finished it will be really good for people traveling between Mysuru and Kushalnagar. It will help people get to their destinations faster and safer and will also reduce traffic on the highway.
Project Scope and Alignment
The Mysuru–Kushalnagar Highway has a part called Package II that’s 22.7 kilometers long, it starts near a place called Guddehosur where the Kushalnagar Bypass begins and ends near Hemming Village. This is where it meets State Highway-21 which is also known as the Hassan–Periyapatna Road.
This Highway project has a route that is 16.82 kilometers long, this new route lets traffic go around the different parts of the road. The rest of the highway which’s 5.88 kilometers long, follows the old NH-275 road. When it is finished it will be a highway that people can enter and exit from different points, the Mysuru–Kushalnagar Highway will make traffic move smoothly and will also make the road safer, it will provide a way to travel between Mysuru and Kushalnagar and the areas, around them.
Construction Timeline and Current Status
The work on the Mysuru–Kushalnagar Highway is going on now and this project is being done under the Hybrid Annuity Model. The people in charge have 24 months to finish the work from the day they started, they have to finish it by 7 December 2027. When the highway is ready the concessionaire will take care of it by making sure it runs smoothly for 15 years.
How Will the Highway Improve Connectivity?
This new road will be a lot faster as people will be able to get where they are going quicker, the highway will help reduce the time it takes to get traffic less of a problem on the old road and make the roads safer by controlling who can get on the highway.
The new highway will also make it easier for people to visit places in Kodagu also known as Coorg, it will be simpler for people to drive to these places whether they are just visiting or transporting goods. This highway will work well with the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway so people can get from Bengaluru to Kodagu a lot faster.
Economic Benefits of the Highway
The Mysuru–Kushalnagar Highway is going to be beneficial for the area because it will help people and goods move between Mysuru and Kodagu at a travel time shorter and costs less money. Some of the economic benefits, about the Mysuru–Kushalnagar Highway are:

The Mysuru–Kushalnagar Highway is currently under construction and is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Mysuru and Kodagu once completed in 2027.
