Synopsis: The Peenya Flyover will face night-time traffic restrictions from July 27 to August 5, 2026, between 10 PM and 5 AM on weekdays for resurfacing work. Bengaluru-bound vehicles from Tumakuru will be diverted during the closure hours.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police have announced night-time traffic restrictions on the Peenya Flyover from July 27 to August 5, 2026. The restrictions will apply only to Bengaluru-bound vehicles travelling from Tumakuru during specified hours. The restriction timings are as follows:
- Monday to Friday: 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM
- Saturday and Sunday: 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM
This restriction is only for vehicles moving from Tumakuru towards Bengaluru and there will be no such restriction if vehicles are moving in the opposite direction from Bengaluru towards Tumakuru. Peenya Flyover is a flyover that links Bengaluru with other industrial cities like Tumakuru, Nelamangala etc. This flyover is one of the most used corridors which is used by thousands of people each day.
Why is the Peenya Flyover Closed at Night?
The announcement of the temporary closure is to undertake the process of asphalt resurfacing work. The purpose of the maintenance is to improve the following factors: Road quality, driving comfort, safety for commuters, durability of the road surface.
It is decided that the work shall be done in night hours so as to minimize the inconvenience caused to traffic. This is because the Peenya corridor experiences a lot of movement during daytime hours and hence it will be easy to finish the work at night.

- Nelamangala
- Madanayakanahalli
- 8th Mile Junction
- Dasarahalli
- Jalahalli Cross
- Peenya Industrial Area
- Goraguntepalya
The affected stretch is the Bengaluru-bound carriageway between the Kennametal Widia Upper Ramp and the SRS Down Ramp on the Peenya Flyover. Commuters travelling during the restricted hours should expect slower traffic movement on the surface road due to diverted vehicles.
This closure of the Peenya Flyover will not affect traffic totally but commuters travelling to Bengaluru from places like Tumakuru and Nelamangala need to be prepared for diversion and delay during this period. The vehicles will be diverted via the service road on NH-4.
- Plan an additional 20–30 minutes of travel time.
- Avoid the flyover between 10 PM–5 AM on weekdays and 12 AM–5 AM on weekends if possible.
- Commuters heading towards Peenya, Jalahalli, Dasarahalli and Goraguntepalya should follow alternate routes.
- Traffic from Bengaluru towards Tumakuru will remain unaffected.
What’s Next?
This resurfacing process is expected to be completed by August 5, 2026, and normal traffic flow over the Peenya flyover would start. Apart from repairing works, NHAI has been developing a sophisticated traffic management system (Advanced Traffic Management System/ATMS), as well as Artificial Intelligence-based Video Incident Detection and Enforcement System (VIDES).
