Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar laid the foundation stone for this project, the project is meant to reduce congestion at the Hebbal Junction which is one of the busiest places in Bengaluru. What is the Hebbal Tunnel Project?

The Hebbal Tunnel Project is Bengaluru’s first tunnel road project that aims to reduce traffic at the intersection in the city and improve connectivity between Mehkri Circle, Hebbal, North Bengaluru and Kempegowda International Airport.

The project involves building a 2.18 km, six-lane tunnel which will cost ₹1,139.67 crore. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will get it done by Rithwik Projects Pvt. Ltd. and they expect it to be finished in 18 months.

The Karnataka government says the tunnel will be free to use and confirmed that no private land acquisition is needed which will help speed up construction.The Project will greatly help traffic flow from Mehkri Circle, Hebbal, North Bengaluru to Kempegowda International Airport.
