Synopsis: PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of projects worth about ₹9,400 crore in Telangana. The article offers details regarding the projects and their connectivity, manufacturing, logistics, health and job creation across the state.

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth ₹9400 crore in Telangana. The investments include roads, railways, industrial infrastructure, textiles, healthcare and energy logistics, among which the NH-167 four-laning project, Zaheerabad Industrial Area, PM MITRA Park in Warangal and new railway infrastructure are among the key projects. Projects are anticipated to create jobs and improve connectivity and industrial development throughout the State.

Four-laning of National Highway-167

  • The NH-167 widening project will add four lanes to the Gudebellur–Mahabubnagar section along the larger NHEC (Hyderabad–Panaji Economic Corridor) in Telangana.
  • Approved Capital cost of the project is ₹3,175.08 crore and the length of the highway expansion is 80.01 km.
  • The project will consist of 36.8 km of new bypasses and realignments providing relief to the movement of traffic and congestion.
  • These bypasses are proposed to remove the congestion in the overcrowded towns like Gudebellur, Makthal and Devarkadra etc.
  • 14.4 lakh direct jobs & 17.9 lakh indirect jobs.
  • The project will also enhance the integration of the main national highways like NH-150 and NH-167N.

Zaheerabad Industrial Area

  • The Zaheerabad Industrial Node is developed around 9 km North of Zaheerabad Town in Telangana and covers 17 villages of Sangareddy District, which is a crucial component of Hyderabad-Nagpur Industrial Corridor.
  • The entire planned area for the project is 12,635 acres of which 3,245.48 acres are in Phase 1.
  • The estimated total cost of the project is ₹2361 crore and jobs created 1.74 lakh jobs
  • The prime purpose of the node is to be a counter-magnet to Hyderabad, to help decentralise industrial growth and speed up the region’s economic development.
  • The node has good road connectivity with NH-65 (Pune–Machilipatnam) 9 km, SH-14 (Bidar–Zaheerabad) 5 km and SH-16 (Nizampet–Bidar) 1.5 km.
  • In proximity to the Hyderabad Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR), improving regional connectivity.
  • Rail connectivity is possible through Metalkunta Station (12 km), Zaheerabad Station (19 km) and Vikarabad Station (76 km).
  • The node is intended for promotion of investments in the main branches of industry as well as in the automobile, transport equipment, electrical equipment, metals and non-metallic minerals, and food processing industries.

PM MITRA Park (Warangal)

PM MITRA Park in Warangal, Telangana was originally proposed as Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP). Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 10th May 2026, it was the first working PM MITRA Park in the country. The park aims to implement the Government of India’s vision of ‘Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign‘ which focuses on building the entire textile value chain. A total area of 1,327 acres and total project cost is ₹1,695.54 crore.

The park is well located along the proposed Greenfield Expressway (NH-163G) connecting Nagpur and Vijayawada, and close to NH-163, which provides a good multimodal connectivity to major railway networks and seaports. There is a 10MW solar power plant being installed as part of the renewable energy infrastructure, which is designed to enhance sustainability and lower the costs of operations. The park will create over 24,400 job opportunities in the textile value chain with a significant proportion of the employment opportunities for women.

Kazipet-Vijayawada Multi-Tracking Project & under rail bypass

Project value of around ₹1,535 crore. The reason for the projects is to reinforce rail connectivity in the region and ease the congestion on the routes, enhance the on-time performance of trains, and enhance the mobility of passengers and freight in both Telangana and neighboring states. The multi-tracking project in Kazipet–Vijayawada: 118 km extension of additional railway lines.

  • The project involves important rail tracks like Warangal–Kazipet, Nekonda–Mahabubabad and Errupalem–Dornakal Junction.
  • This corridor is an important section of the Grand Trunk railway route of India, the route that joins north to south.
  • The project will involve the construction of multiple tracks for the railway line, which will improve its capacity and alleviate congestion on one of the busiest railway tracks in South India.
  • The extra tracks are likely to reduce delays, and ensure on-time performance for passenger trains between Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and northern India.

Kazipet Rail Under Bypass: Bypass of 21 km length.

  • The bypass has been created to alleviate heavy traffic at Kazipet Junction, one of the busiest railway junctions in the region.
  • With the new alignment, trains can move towards Vijayawada, Balharshah and Hyderabad simultaneously, thus eliminating routing conflicts.
  • This enhances the efficiency of operations on the vital Delhi – Chennai line by enabling trains to run without any unnecessary halts/crossings.
  • Several districts like Hanumakonda, Warangal, Mahabubabad and Khammam are directly benefitted by the upgrades of the railway infrastructure.
  • The expansion of rail capacity will also boost freight and logistics activities, ensuring swift transport of critical commodities like coal, cement, fertilizers, farm produce and industrial goods.

The Malkapur Terminal by Indian Oil

  • Total investment: ₹611 crore. The new terminal has been constructed to overcome the operational limitations at IOCL’s existing terminal at Cherlapally which covered an area of approximately 19 acres and experienced extreme space constraints.
  • The Malkapur Terminal will greatly enhance fuel supply infrastructure and energy security in 23 districts of Telangana.
  • The project represents a significant change in the logistics system when compared with the previous distribution system of fuel from the rail.
  • The terminal is also served directly by the petroleum supplies from the Paradip–Hyderabad Pipeline, enhancing the reliability of the petroleum supplies and mitigating transportation delays.
  • This equates to an estimated handling capacity of almost 7,964 kilolitres of fuel per day which results in faster and more efficient distribution of fuels.
  • The new system is expected to reduce the use of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) by approximately 10,000 kilolitres, which is the fuel that was used in logistics operations previously.
  • It will also help India’s shift towards cleaner and more sustainable energy infrastructure by cutting carbon emissions by almost 27,000 metric tonnes of CO₂.
