Synopsis: Scapia has announced its first major devaluation, introducing changes to lounge access, insurance, utilities, international benefits, and more. These updates will come into effect from 27 February 2026.
Scapia has announced some changes for its credit card users from Feb 27th 2026. The updates from scapia do not seem to be positive. The new structure requires users to spend more to earn rewards with no more rewards for insurance premiums and utility payments, which previously provided benefits. Many customers might not find it attractive as before, as they will need to spend more to get the same perks now. Users should consider these changes and look into the spending and rewards impact, hence strategically moving forward. Here’s what majorly has changed
Lounge access spend requirement doubled
- The monthly spend threshold has been doubled to INR 20000 while earlier it was of INR 10000 per month. You can add your spending on both visa and rupay cards, or can also use just one card.
- Only when the INR 20000 monthly spend criteria is fulfilled, users become eligible for unlimited domestic lounge access along with airport privileges.
Rewards removed on insurance and utility payments
- Rewards will no longer be given for everyday purchases. Hence, certain transactions will no longer earn any rewards on insurance payments and utility payments.
- Any user dependent on these categories to earn rewards regularly, will have a decrease.

What will remain the same
- No forex markup on international spends across 150+ countries.
- Rewards on the card spends; earn 10% rewards using the visa card, earn 5% rewards using the rupay card.
- Get 20% rewards on orders made via scapia app.
- Unlimited domestic lounge access along with airport privileges.
New international airport privileges
- Cardholders can unlock exclusive international airport privileges by booking an international flight worth INR 50000 or more in a single transaction via the scapia app. This enhances the travel experience for the users by providing benefits at airports.
- Cardholders can spend freely at a variety of duty-free stores, brands, and dining located in the airport terminals across India.
- Users also benefit from a 100% cashback on their rewards with a max limit of INR 2000.
In conclusion, this major update of scapia card clearly staes who this card is meant for. Due to removal of rewards on insurance and utility payments, it takes away the way for users to earn points every month. It reduces the card’s value as these were routine expenses and now these rewards are lost.
The biggest shift is the change in airport access lounge which will immediately affect the users as doubling the spending from INR 10000 to 20000 is a deal. This was one of the most valuable features of scapia as it was not easy to unlock yet not unattainable too. The benefit is still unlimited, but the reach to it demands of more spending.
Any user who valued the lounge access with just minimal effort would feel a downgrade and might have to consider if the card really is worth their spending style or not as casual spenders might feel like missing out something.
