The Indian transformer market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.7 percent between 2024 and 2030, reaching $57.8 billion. One of the primary drivers of the power transformer market is the global increase in power demand.
The Central Electricity Authority projects that capital expenditure (capex) in the power transmission sector alone could reach approximately Rs. 4.75 trillion by 2027, indicating substantial investment in upgrading and expanding the grid infrastructure.
Following are a few transformer stocks in which Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) and Domestic Institutional Investors (DII) increased their stake in Q3 FY25:
1. Bharat Bijlee Limited
With a market cap of Rs. 3,651 crores, the shares of a leading electrical engineering company in India moved up by nearly 1.2 percent on BSE to Rs. 3,284.9 on Saturday.
FII holdings have increased by 0.51 percent, rising from 4.79 percent in Q2 FY25 to 5.3 percent in Q3 FY25. Likewise, DII holdings have grown by 1.46 percent, climbing from 16.31 percent to 17.77 percent during the same period.
Over the last one year, the stock has delivered positive returns of nearly 23 percent, but around 15 percent of negative returns in the last one month.
Established in 1946, Bharat Bijlee Limited is engaged in the business of manufacturing of transformers, electric motors, elevator systems, drives and automation, along with providing turnkey solutions for EHV switchyards, HV and MV substations, electrical balance of plant, and more.
2. Indo Tech Transformers Limited
With a market cap of Rs. xx crores, the stock moved up by nearly xx percent on BSE to Rs. xx on Monday.
FII holdings have increased by 0.09 percent, rising from 0.39 percent in Q2 FY25 to 0.48 percent in Q3 FY25. Likewise, DII holdings have climbed from 0 percent to 0.66 percent during the same period.
Over the last one year, the stock has delivered multibagger returns of nearly 179 percent, but around 12.5 percent of negative returns in the last one month.
Indo Tech Transformers is engaged in the business of manufacturing power and distribution transformers and various special application transformers, mobile sub-station transformers and sub-stations.

3. Transformers & Rectifiers India Limit
With a market cap of Rs. 13,141.2 crores, the shares of a prominent player in the manufacturing of transformers and reactors in India moved up by nearly 2 percent on BSE to Rs. 908 on Saturday.
FII holdings have increased by 1.74 percent, rising from 9.34 percent in Q2 FY25 to 11.08 percent in Q3 FY25. Likewise, DII holdings have grown by 0.75 percent, climbing from 6.93 percent to 7.68 percent during the same period.
Over the last one year, the stock has delivered multibagger returns of nearly 154 percent, but around 26.5 percent of negative returns in the last one month.
TRIL is engaged in the business of manufacturing power, furnace and rectifier transformers. It has completed more than 16,000 Installatio worldwide with a presence in over 25 countries, including ‘Dynamic Short Circuit Test’ on 153 Transformers at Renowned Test Laboratories like KEMA & CPRI.
4. GE Vernova T&D India Limited
With a market cap of Rs. 45,422.6 crores, the shares of a leading player in the power transmission and distribution business moved down by nearly 1.7 percent on BSE to Rs. 1,755.8 on Saturday.
FII holdings have increased by 5.22 percent, rising from 6.82 percent in Q2 FY25 to 12.04 percent in Q3 FY25. Likewise, DII holdings have grown by 2.79 percent, climbing from 25.61 percent to 28.4 percent during the same period.
Over the last one year, the stock has delivered multibagger returns of nearly 158 percent, while around 8 percent of positive returns in the last one month.
GE Vernova T&D India Limited, formerly known as GE T&D India Limited, is the listed entity of GE Vernova’s Electrification business in India. The company is in the business of building power transmission and distribution infrastructure, with a wide range of transmission equipment up to Extra and ultra-high voltages (765 kV and beyond), including air-insulated switchgear (AIS) and locally manufactured power transformers and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS).
