The South Korean captain and former Tottenham star, Son Heung-min, continues to impress in the United States by scoring an impressive hat trick in a 4-1 triumph over Real Salt Lake. He joined Los Angeles FC earlier this August after spending a decade in London with Tottenham Hotspur.

Son Heung-Min’s First MLS Hat Trick

Son Heung-Min scored his first hat trick in the MLS since arriving in the United States. His three goals earned LAFC a crucial win, leaving LAFC in fourth place in the Western Conference with six games to go in the regular season.

Son opened the scoring in only the third minute and was never in doubt after being set up for a comfortable 1v1 with the goalkeeper. The second came in the 16th minute, credited to pure individual brilliance from the Korean star. Ryan Hollingshead found Son with plenty of space for him to drive a powerful low shot past the Salt Lake keeper from outside the box.

Son was in sensational form, further testing the goalkeeper as well as striking the post in search of his third goal of the night. Real Salt Lake found themselves back in contention with an impressive acrobatic finish from Zavier Gozo. LAFC brought back their 2 goal lead as LAFC’s top scorer, Denis Bouanga, unselfishly set up Son for a tap-in to complete his hat trick.

In the 88th minute, Bouanga found himself on the scoresheet, guiding LAFC to a comfortable victory. He broke past the Real Salt Lake defence with an impressive touch in his own half, but this time took it all the way himself and slotted it in the back of the net. This goal was his 94th for the club and moved him to the top of LAFC’s all-time scoring list, ahead of club legend Carlos Vela.

How has Son Heung-Min performed at LAFC?

The South Korean has been in hot form since joining LAFC earlier this August. In his first six appearances for the club, he has scored five goals and even provided an assist. Son does not seem to slow down and has found his rhythm once again since leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

His form even continued with his national side. He netted a goal and even provided an assist in a comfortable 2-0 win for South Korea over the United States. He then scored once again for his national side in a 2-2 draw with Mexico.

Conclusion

Son Heung-min’s first MLS hat trick is more than just a personal milestone; it is a statement of intent. His blistering form has not only energized LAFC but also raised expectations for what’s to come this season.

With his sharp finishing and relentless drive, Son is proving to be the perfect marquee star for both his club and the league. If this early dominance is any indication, LAFC fans can look forward to many more unforgettable nights from their new talisman.
