The IPL 2026 Auction is likely to be held between December 13 and 15, emerging as the possible window. Franchise officials who spoke with the BCCI said that these could be the tentative dates, but the exact schedule is yet to be confirmed.

As of now, there is no confirmation on where the auction will take place. Will it be held overseas, like in the last two years: first in Dubai (2023) and then in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (2024)? Franchise sources suggest that this time it could be held in India, as it will be a mini-auction. However, that decision is yet to be finalized.

The confirmed news, however, is that the retention deadline is November 15. Franchises must submit the list of retained players and released players by that date. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are expected to release the majority of their players after having a poor season last year, finishing near the bottom of the table.

According to sources, CSK are likely to release Sam Curran due to his underwhelming performance last season. All eyes will be on Sanju Samson: whether he will continue with RR or decide to move on.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are expected to retain and maintain their core group of players from last season, as both teams reached the finals.

Going by the buzz among franchises, Cameron Green is expected to enter the auction and could be one of the hottest names available. A few teams have already expressed strong interest in him.
