Synopisis: ACME Solar commissions fourth BESS phase in Rajasthan: 33 MW/160 MWh storage. Project now 44% complete toward 300 MW total; supports India’s reliable clean energy grid.
India’s renewable energy push takes another step forward. ACME Solar Holdings Limited has commissioned the fourth phase of its massive Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Rajasthan. The company, through its wholly owned subsidiary ACME Sun Power Private Limited, activated 33.333 MW / 160.48 MWh of battery storage capacity. The site sits at Village Badi Sid, Tehsil-Bap, in the Phalodi and Jodhpur districts.
ACME Solar Holdings Limited’s stock, with a market capitalisation of Rs. 16,300 crores, rose Rs. 271.85, up 1.89 percent percent from its previous closing price of Rs. 266.80. Furthermore, the stock over the past year has given a return of 39.85 percent.
What Is BESS and Why Does It Matter?
A Battery Energy Storage System stores electricity and releases it when the grid needs it most. Think of it as a giant power bank but for entire cities. India needs more of this technology as solar and wind power can be unpredictable. BESS helps make clean energy reliable. ACME’s Rajasthan project, with a total target of 300 MW / 1,409.34 MWh, is one of the larger such projects in the country.
Where the Project Stands Now
The company has been moving in phases. The commercial operation date (COD) for this fourth phase is April 3, 2026. Furthermore, this milestone builds on earlier updates shared on March 6, March 12, and March 31, 2026. So far, ACME Sun Power has commissioned a combined 133.336 MW / 641.980 MWh of capacity. That means the project is roughly 44% complete in terms of power output and about 46% complete in storage terms.
The Road Ahead
ACME Solar still has more than half the project to deliver around 166.664 MW / 767.36 MWh remains. However, the pace of commissioning signals that the company is on track. ACME Solar operates across multiple renewable technologies including solar, wind, and hybrid energy systems, along with FDRE, which provides firm, on-demand power through energy storage. Screener The Rajasthan BESS project, therefore, fits squarely into its broader energy strategy. As India races to meet its clean energy targets, projects like this one sit right at the heart of that effort.
