Synopsis: India’s largest commercial vehicle maker said it has received over 3,400 orders for electric commercial vehicles, ranging from small commercial vehicles to trucks and buses, across sectors such as e-commerce, logistics, FMCG, cement, steel, mining and passenger transport, in what it called a significant scale-up of mainstream eCV adoption.

A leading commercial vehicle maker has witnessed a large wave of orders for electric vehicles in the freight and passenger mobility segments, underscoring the fast pace at which India is adopting clean transportation solutions. This development mirrors the increasing confidence of customers in electric commercial mobility and helps the industry transition from pilot projects to large-scale fleet electrification.

Orders cover a broad spectrum of applications from e-commerce, logistics, FMCG and FMCD distribution to operationally intensive sectors such as cement, steel, mining, tarmac operations and inter-city and intra-city passenger transportation. “The scale of deployment is a clear shift from isolated EV pilots to large-scale, operationally integrated electric mobility across the commercial vehicle ecosystem.”

The product portfolio behind these wins includes the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV and Intra EV in the SCV and pick-up segment for last-mile and intra-city distribution; Ultra EV range (7–12T) for intermediate and heavy freight; Prima EV 55T tractor and Prima EV 28T tipper for heavy duty applications; Starbus EV and Ultra EV buses for passenger mobility.

The company has the operational depth that gives fleet customers tangible confidence in the platform, with over 3,800 electric buses already in operation across multiple cities with a cumulative run of more than 55 crore kilometres, and over 17,000 Tata eSCVs on the road.

Supporting this order momentum is an enabling ecosystem: a charging network through partnerships with 14+ charge point operators, EV-focused financing solutions, Fleet Edge-powered fleet management, and comprehensive uptime assurance programmes.
