The transmission system is crucial for delivering power from generating stations to consumers. The National Electricity Plan aims to add over 1,91,000 ckm of transmission lines and 1,270 GVA of transformation capacity by 2031-32. Additionally, 33 GW of HVDC bi-pole links are planned, with inter-regional transmission capacity set to grow from 119 GW to 168 GW by 2032.
Price Action
The shares of Transrail Lighting Ltd, with a market capitalization of Rs 6,932.98 Crores on Friday, reached an intraday high of Rs 524.7 per share gaining around 7.5 percent in today’s trade. The shares closed at Rs 516.4 per share which was 5.8 percent higher than the previous closing price of Rs 488 apiece.
Order Book Insights
The company’s total order book including L1 stands at Rs 15,643 crore as of Q3FY25 with 49 percent domestic and 51 percent international. During the 9MFY25, the company had an order inflow of Rs 4,715 crore which is a 50 percent growth over last year.
Transmission & Distribution segment accounts for 90 percent of the total order book, with international projects backed by multilateral funding agencies.
Recently it secured an order worth Rs 2,752 crore in the power transmission and distribution (T&D) sector on Thursday, With this addition, YTD order inflows have crossed Rs 7,400 crore which is a growth of 90% vis-a-vis last year.
Capex plans
The company’s Board has given in-principle approval for a Rs 327 crore capital expenditure plan over 18-24 months, allocated as follows: Rs 125 crore for factory expansion, Rs 115 crore for a new tower manufacturing unit, and Rs 80 crore for executing projects, tools, and equipment. Additionally, Rs 90 crore from IPO funds will be used for expanding the existing plant.

Business Highlights
The company has been awarded a package for the 800kV HVDC Khavda-Nagpur Transmission Line. It secured the first solar EPC order in the international market for an 80 MW DC ground mount solar PV project. It also received a contract for a 400kV DC transmission line in Nepal. The company successfully commissioned the highest natural draft cooling tower in Telangana.
Financials
The company reported an increase of 62 percent YoY in Revenues from Operations from Rs 837.31 Crores in Q3FY24 to Rs 1,357.56 Crores in Q3FY25. Their PAT jumped 92 percent YoY from Rs 48.59 Crores to Rs 93.24 Crores over the same period. On the Operating level, their EBITDA grew 80 percent YoY from Rs 99.9 Crores to Rs 179.8 Crores.
